Wtf?

For anyone else in the Boston area - I got home from the movies and went to the TV right at 9:59 - some stupid comedy was on, as though programming had been delayed by an hour? The beginning of Lost started, then promptly switched to Invasion. Does anyone know what's going on here?

So I have a DVR recording from 9 to 10 of something that isn't Lost.

EDIT: EyeTV did something weird - when I opened what was supposed to be a live TV window, it opened my Lost recording, at the beginning. Then spontaneously shifted to Invasion, live. So, the Lost episode really is recorded.

Bizarre. I've been using EyeTV extensively for some time, and have NEVER seen something like this.

i don't think the timer really hits zero, one time when they were kinda late getting to it (i don't remeber the exact episode/event sequence) they typed it in at the last second, it hit zero, and then reset.

although, it seems jack is TRYING to prevent everyone else from doing the timer in that sequence, so you never know. Lost previews are notoriously fickle too...

and i won't say anything about the guy they capture, because that has to do with the part of the spoiler i actually read. of course, i have no guarentee what i said was true, but whatever. :p

Did Sawyer switch bags on the woman?
Yes. Pretty slick.

I really enjoyed this episode - didn't see the Sawyer thing coming, but I liked it.

Excellent episode. I got the feeling with the last one that they were padding it out in the middle of the series, but this seems to be back on track. I quite the fact they are making Charlie a bit harder and darker - he was getting a bit wet and irritating.

I liked this one too.
I think the Charlie switch was good.
I am getting somewhat annoyed with the whole who does KAte like today ordeal. She needs to pick one and "get it started". I wouldn't mind being stuck on an island with her!

that was a really good episode, i think lost is now over its early mid season lull and now getting back into it. Sawyer is dammed evil now!

any thoughts on what will happen next then - i think it is probably going to be the case that the others will find the stash of the guns and go and steal them - scuppering the army plans!

is the next episode next week or is it going to stick to the one episode whenever they feel like it - its quite annoying how they are not every week - it looses its fluidity (ooh i like that word) and probably adds to the fact it has appeared to stagnate a bit of late.

Whoo... hardcore Sayid comes to the forefront.

And Sawyer is a right bastard for killing that frog... especially since Hurley was willing to take him far enough away not to bug Sawyer anymore. (No, I'm not in PETA... just don't approve of senseless killing.)

But of course the big news is... the timer hit ZERO! Jack forced Locke to open the armory before he'd let him type in the code, and Locke was a bit slow typing in the code when Jack finally let him go. Before it reset to 108:00, there were red-and-black symbols on the clock: some sort of bird in the tens of seconds position, an arrow or obelisk in the minutes position, an up-and-to-the-left stick in the seconds position, and unknown symbols in the tens and hundreds of minutes position.

<unknown> <unknown> <arrow/obelisk> : <bird> <up-to-the-left stick>

EDIT: Next week... another hatch!

don't forget the weird rumbling sounds that stopped after the timer reset, clay..

i think we'll be seeing more of what happens when you let the timer run down.. they seem to have a "grace period" of sorts after the 108 runs down that can still be reversed, so i imagine they'll experiment.

a tidbit: that soldier in teh flashback who asked sayid if he had a family.. i'm fairly sure that was kate's dad. the picture looked like it was of her.

and next week. oh man, next week... we get to finally see the compound where the others be chillin'. :D

I was looking through IMDB to try to confirm that...

WOAH!!!

Episode 2.17, which we'll be seeing in a few weeks, is directed by none other than my favorite director of all time, Darren Aronofsky.

Other works to his credit are Pi, Requiem for a Dream, and the upcoming movie The Fountain.

I'm psyched. Usually you can't tell the difference in episodes based on who is directing them, and I have a feeling this will be the same way, but Aronofsky has a VERY distinctive filmmaking style, so I hope some of that carries over.

Maybe we'll see the episode filmed in a migraine-inducing high-contrast black and white, or he'll use that camera that's strapped to an actor so that it's aimed in their face no matter which way they turn. ;)

Still waiting on The Fountain... seems like 7 years now since I first heard of it.

Hate to dissapoint but it looks like we are going to have a few weeks of reruns. According to TV.com the next new episode does not air until March 1st. Next week appears to be a repeat of the two hour pilot. At least according to TV guide.com

To me it appeared the timer hitting zero was like a game of chance or a like a slot-machine where after it hits zero it picks a random picture, and if the depending on the final sequence something particular will happen. It only makes sense because why else, when the clock is spinning you could see every picture included in every place. If only a certain picture was meant to be in every spot they wouldn't have bothered to include other pictures in the rotation.

But something tells me that if the timer successfully runs down, we will here this loud explosion, and in the following episode we will discover it triggered for something else to crash on the island with a whole new slew of characters to add to the show.

Wow Darren Aronofsky! I wonder why Lost lured someone like him to direct and episode, or whether he is just a fan and begged them for an episode, but either way it must be an important episode for them to give him that particular episode in the season.

Yeah I thought that the girl in the soldier's picture looked like Kate as well. Last night's episode was a great one. The whole teaser with the clock hitting zero and the "other". It will be interesting to see what becomes of their prisoner. He sure gave a look at Sayid when Jack closed the door on him. Also next week's episode looks like it is going to be a good one.
Last night's show was one of my favorites (even though there was no Kate!) :)

i definately think they were hieroglyphics as well. maybe we should investigate. have are own macrumors figuring out lost kind of thing. we are all mac users so we are the elite! :D

The countdown...

Here's a snippet of the timer hitting 0:00, the hieroglyphics, and the reversion to the 108:00 time (click for movie):

Note that we never see the 2nd glyph.
