I have had this feature on my Android phones for years. Glad they finally put it on the iPad.

Interesting that you came back after being banned last time for your constant railing against iOS and for Android.

Regardless, I feel like a dork talking to an electronic device (and not someone on the other end), I won't use it. Damn my self-consciousness!

I had no idea this was a feature

Until a couple of days ago. So selling my iPad 2 was not in vain :)

I am so excited to use this for class and writing etc. > looking forward to playing with it once I get my iPad mid-week.

And thanks to the folks who are posting how to tips here.

I agree I'm amazed at how efficient this software really is. in the past I have used Dragon software which I found was full of errors .

The only issue I'm finding with this option is I need to hone my dictation skills.

I love it too

My only quibble it often misses the names I say but outside of that, it's a truly great feature.

And besides the screen, this was worth upgrading for. I look forward to seeing improvements, but hey, if the iPad helps me to speak more clearly, works for me.

This is going to be great for school and writing. I'll figure out how to get the names in there, either that, or I will have to simplify my characters nom de plumes. ;)

This dictation is pretty awesome, I have to admit. Just upgraded from 1st Gen iPad and have dictated a few things with zero problems.

I'm excited to try it with notes in class! If I can just set it on the desk (sitting at the front) and it can just record what the professor says, then so so much easier! (maybe I'm just lazy!) I will at least try it for writing essays, but I'm worried about commas and such. I'll have to check out that command link.

I wish it would show the text as you speak instead of waiting until you hit the button again. But I've found it to be pretty accurate.

I assume it doesn't actually learn based on your particular voice, but rather on data from Apple? I've never read any details about it.

I am really enjoying it

Funny in Reminders and Safari, Dictation works perfectly. Catches everything I say.

In Notes and Pages, I'd say about 95% > names are still an issue. Considering how new this is, that's pretty darn amazing.

I love it. Thanks for the commands link, they work great.

useful savings of time and energy. Not Perfect, but better than nothing.

great for these forums and e-mail
