I shoot Nikon and just became an iPhone user a few months ago....the biggest reason I went from a 4 to a 4S was the camera. Glad I did. It is really, really good. I'm used to my 17-55mm 2.8 and have been spoiled by that but for what this device is (a phone) it is simply awesome....First three pics are originals.

The last two is after a quick dose of Instagram.

It's a very good camera, and is currently my only camera. It was better than my previous Samsung point-and-shoot camera.

Nice pics.

I agree, in fact I'm thinking of selling my camera gear,
not because the 4S's camera is better but because
its good enough and always available.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

Only thing I don't like is hivis/dayglo colours always look washed out

Just curious, what do you think Apple will do next year to upgrade the camera? Adding more mega-pixels wouldn't help, would it?

Xenon flash, maybe? Way brighter than any LED 'flash' I've seen/used but then they'd lose the flash-for-notifications accessibility feature and render all the flashlight apps useless...

Come to think of it, probably not going to happen. But it'd be nice to see it happen, since there aren't that many cameraphones with Xenon flashes nowadays.

More a question of what will Sony do who makes the camera...

I'd like to see dual or triple lenses, one ultra wide, standard, and zoom.
Focus, and tracking could be quicker as well.

Image wise you can see noise in blue skys when viewing full size.

But with the obsession with thinner and thinner phones, it will be hard to balance that with camera improvements.

Sony doesn't just make a camera and give it too apple...apple makes its needs known...and sony makes it accordingly.

Yep, camera is pretty good in this one. I was planning to buy a dslr pretty soon, but I'm wondering whether to bother now. A big telephoto lens would still be very useful though!

Speaking of lenses, you can actually buy them for the iPhone. I have the olloclip ones, quality isn't superb but it's acceptable, and it's a ton of fun using them. No telephoto though, just wide, macro and fisheye.

Must not be any real photographers in the house. iPhone best camera they ever had? wahahahaha ummm ya

Well, duh?, course a real photographers going to have a better camera, but the average cheapy point and shoot buyer, it's quite possible.
