Ah, Looking through Fuel Rewards I found this now, thanks for that. I don't see why I couldn't just activate Apple Pay like normal and touch the payment sensor like I do with my CC but better than nothingI use Apple Pay via the Shell app.
Finally. One down, Walmart, Home Depot to go. Walmart is likely a lost cause however.
The only time I need to use cash is when I pay £1 to enter the pub quiz. Contactless is now ubiquitous in the UK. The only minor inconvenience is that some places don't accept AMEX, so I have to choose a different card in Apple Pay when that happens. That’s crazy to think contactless isn’t available almost everyone, here the uk I use Apple Pay for almost everything from buying stuff to using the tube
Walmart used to own Asda, and they took/take contactless during the ownership.Do you have Walmart in the UK? If so, do they take Apple Pay?
Except that the Walmart app gives me digital receipts, which I like.Apple Pay is one of those nuggets Apple gets a high A in. Walmart Pay is dial up compared in real time application.
My God, you must be my doppelgänger... I am exactly the same on all three points!Believe it or not, the layout of the parking lot is a big factor for me. Both the HD and Lowe’s near my house are in shopping centers that require you to drive an IMSA course to get in and out of, along with 3 traffic lights. God help you if you forget something, or grab the wrong size of whatever and have to go back. Every trip back doubles the time on a simple project. Larger projects, not so much. It can be really discouraging sometimes.
Walmart needs to bite the bullet and just take Apple Pay. I really do love Apple Pay particularly when I use it in an App to make a purchase like Dunkin Donuts or to pay a restaurant bill. It’s terribly convenient and I’m not stuck having another person handle my card meaning less chance for fraud. I shop in Walmart less because of it. We usually go to Target for those basics, or price club like BJ’s or Costco. Both which take Apple Pay.
And I refuse to use my physical card at a gas pump. Those things are skimmer central. If you want your card hacked, use it at a gas pump. If for some reason I HAVE to use a physical card at the pump, I stick AMEX in there. This way, if I’m skimmed I don’t pay.
Better than nothing but there is a catch...they track your spending with the linked CC especially at restaurants.Ah, Looking through Fuel Rewards I found this now, thanks for that. I don't see why I couldn't just activate Apple Pay like normal and touch the payment sensor like I do with my CC but better than nothing
It does piss me off that Home Depot doesn’t take contactless payments (when it’s obvious their terminals could) but those stores are closer to me than Lowe’s. I’m not going to drive out of my way just to use Apple Pay.Why would Apple Pay lure someone to Lowe’s over Home Depot? Are people really that picky over WHERE they shop over just Apple Pay acceptance? If a business doesn’t take Apple Pay, I just use one of my CC’s with chip/pin. I don’t even think twice about it.
I mean, I prefer Lowe’s over Home Depot because:
1) It’s closer to my house and
2) I regularly get Lowe’s gift cards for at least 10% off when Target or PayPal have promotions, so I rarely use a CC at Lowe’s anyway. I just keep my Lowe’s app wallet loaded with an instant 10% discount (more if I used my Target card for an extra 5% on the gift card).
Apple Pay is nice and all, and I use it at every store that I shop at that accepts it. But it doesn’t make a place I like to shop at a “non starter” due to its exclusion.
Kohl’s is a Visa card and can be used anywhere Visa is used. Lowe’s is not a Visa OR Mastercard, so it’s only used in Lowe’s.The only store card I have ever been able to add to my Wallet is Kohl’s. If Lowe’s card is a Visa or Mastercard then I would expect it would be able to be added.
My bank debit card and AMEX card give me a form of digital receipt that shows up in Apply Pay. It's limited to the retailer, amount, time and place of the transaction. This is no bad thing because a stated benefit of Apple Pay is that the retailer gets to know nothing about you. I prefer the relative anonymity and don't want any retailer building a profile of my purchasing habits.Except that the Walmart app gives me digital receipts, which I like.
Yeah. There’s nothing particularly compelling between them as they’re both hardware stores. I don’t like Lowe’s enough (or even shop there enough) to want to look for and top up on gift cards, but for my next small hardware purchase, it’ll be at Lowe’s.Why would Apple Pay lure someone to Lowe’s over Home Depot? Are people really that picky over WHERE they shop over just Apple Pay acceptance?
Yep agreed. I think those are the only 2 remaining. I don't even think Home Depot has it's own clunky payment platform like Walmart, so not sure what the deal is with Home Depot.Finally. One down, Walmart, Home Depot to go. Walmart is likely a lost cause however.
We don’t have Walmart but we have ASDA which is partially owned by Walmart. And yes, they take contactless (and therefore Apple Pay).Do you have Walmart in the UK? If so, do they take Apple Pay?
Yeah, I get it. But I've given up. To hide everything requires disabling cookies in my browser which pretty much breaks all the websites. Let them know, I stopped caring a long time ago.My bank debit card and AMEX card give me a form of digital receipt that shows up in Apply Pay. Wal-Mart is next! (I hope!)
So weird reading this from the UK. I normally go out with just my phone and watch. Hardly use my physical card anymore because EVERYWHERE accepts contactless and therefore takes Apple Pay.
