Funny. Here in Switzerland I only carry my ID in my physical wallet since years. My barber has 2 chairs in his home shop and has taken AMEX via Apple Pay for 6 or 7 years. In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, most small businesses in big cities there accept only cash payment and not accept card payments.
Some European banks do not accept Apple Pay but accept Google Pay. For example, Norway’s largest bank, DNB bank, does not accept Apple Pay but accept Google Pay.
In the USA, it is common for some businesses to accept physical card payment but not accept contactless payments, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
You know what, I was thinking about Randall's, not KrogerThe ones around here don't. They have started adding it in April, but it's not enabled everywhere.

Dewalt and Porter Cable are both made by black and decker.if you have lock-in or some other loyalty to a brand of power tools, you're much better off shopping on-line.
Personally, I'm a Bosh guy. Porter Cable a close second, but the major retailers become very closely aligned with those brands and create contracts that make them nearly exclusive.
You might be surprised at how few companies actually make all the tools we purchase.

Bosch isn’t.
contactless does not inherently mean supports Apple Pay.Most businesses that do not accept contactless payments in USA use mostly card swipers instead of pinpads.

Most pinpads today in USA have contactless feature.

It will change in USA for most of these businesses who use card swipers to buy pinpads. Mastercard in 2027 will remove the magnetic stripe from their credit cards and debit cards from 2027 in USA and Canada.
Swiping left on magnetic stripes
With the rise of the chip card, this once-pioneering payment technology is being retired.www.mastercard.com
Guess you don’t shop at Home Depot or Lowes.Where do you live in the US? I lived in the Bay Area from 2014-2020 and Rochester NY from 2020 onwards. I've been using contactless payments for years, with Apple Pay and tapping my credit card.
Someone can steal your chip card and use it to make purchases. If they steal your phone, they cannot use your apple pay.
I was wondering how far I’d have to scroll before I saw the real reason why Walmart won’t accept any form of contactless payment. It’s all about the data to them. Apple wouldn’t budge on the data collection so Walmart created their own and that’s the hill they are willing to die on.Walmart is not budging because they want to collect as much info about your buying habits as possible. The analytics on what you buy are hugely valuable to them, and Walmart Pay allows them to know exactly what you bought.
They’re doing a horrible job of it. I always use the SAME card at Walmart, they ask if I want paper or SMS receipt, I select SMS, and it asks for the phone number… EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.Walmart is not budging because they want to collect as much info about your buying habits as possible. Yes, Debit card. Maybe that's it -- some places use debit card as a Visa/MC and don't ask for PIN, and others use it as an ATM/debit card and ask for a PIN. Light bulb just lit.Maybe they mean when using a debit card?
Is it? Never noticed because it takes about 3 seconds to choose my card on my watch and put it on the terminal to hear the ding of acceptance.Apple pay is so much slower then just tapping your credit card. Also you can’t easily preselect the apple pay credit card, you must do it while you are doing the transaction.
Why would Apple Pay lure someone to Lowe’s over Home Depot? Are people really that picky over WHERE they shop over just Apple Pay acceptance? If a business doesn’t take Apple Pay, I just use one of my CC’s with chip/pin. I don’t even think twice about it.
If it's a debit card, they have to do an investigation, and that takes time. They don't always find in your favor. Also, it is very inconvenient to have to wait to get a new card to make purchases, change all your autopay information, and things like that.I'm not liable for stolen credit card purchases.

Screw the 5% that comes with a high interest rate. I would rather just use my 10% militaty discount. For me it's not a matter of luring me to Lowes over HD. As someone who does a lot of DIY stuff I'm in both stores regularly, because they sometimes fill different niches (Lowes seems to be better with "finished goods", HD better with raw materials and tools, for example). Instead, it's the fact that I currently only NEED to carry a credit card for those two stores. Everywhere else I go regularly (there's probably exceptions but can't think of them right now) support Apple Pay.
I also don't use the Lowes credit card simply because I use try to rack up points on other cards, for travel etc.
Not as easy as Walgreens, but you can add the Mylowes card to the wallet and scan it at the register. Can also scan directly from the app.myLowes card keychain and having to get out a physical card out of my bag. Whereas Walgreens has had Apple Pay since the beginning along with their rewards card in the Wallet app. Was always annoying but it's better late than never.
