myLowes card keychain and having to get out a physical card out of my bag. Whereas Walgreens has had Apple Pay since the beginning along with their rewards card in the Wallet app. Was always annoying but it's better late than never.

In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, most small businesses in big cities there accept only cash payment and not accept card payments.

Some European banks do not accept Apple Pay but accept Google Pay. For example, Norway’s largest bank, DNB bank, does not accept Apple Pay but accept Google Pay.

In the USA, it is common for some businesses to accept physical card payment but not accept contactless payments, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Funny. Here in Switzerland I only carry my ID in my physical wallet since years. My barber has 2 chairs in his home shop and has taken AMEX via Apple Pay for 6 or 7 years.

Every kebab stand I know takes AP. Even the laggard self spray car wash takes AP since 1/2 year.

One of the last big holdouts Post Finance turned on AP for its debit cards 1/2 year ago and another big hold out on debit via AP, The Liechtenstein Natl Bank, turned it on a month ago.

My 70 ish neighbors who have my old Apple Watch have used AP to good advantage in Austria and Germany.

TBH I can’t remember the last time somebody didn’t or couldn’t take it it’s been years. When I do travel I take a CC with me as a backup for areas I don’t know.

Professional sporting venues US have all been contactless for years. NFL and MLB had commercials donning the cashless experience since 2016.

I went to Spain recently and barely even had to take a physical card out of my bag except for a few subway and train stations. I suppose the Marriott hotel too since they didn't have a contact pad.

The world is at a point where you have a greater chance of AMEX being accepted over Apple Pay.

if you have lock-in or some other loyalty to a brand of power tools, you're much better off shopping on-line.
Personally, I'm a Bosh guy. Porter Cable a close second, but the major retailers become very closely aligned with those brands and create contracts that make them nearly exclusive.
You might be surprised at how few companies actually make all the tools we purchase.
Dewalt and Porter Cable are both made by black and decker.

Bosch isn’t.

People love Apple Pay and unless there is a sale on the item you want. Most Apple Pay users will frequent store’s Excepting Apple Pay

Most businesses that do not accept contactless payments in USA use mostly card swipers instead of pinpads.

Most pinpads today in USA have contactless feature.

It will change in USA for most of these businesses who use card swipers to buy pinpads. Mastercard in 2027 will remove the magnetic stripe from their credit cards and debit cards from 2027 in USA and Canada.

Apple pay is so much slower then just tapping your credit card. Also you can’t easily preselect the apple pay credit card, you must do it while you are doing the transaction.

Walmart is not budging because they want to collect as much info about your buying habits as possible. The analytics on what you buy are hugely valuable to them, and Walmart Pay allows them to know exactly what you bought.
I was wondering how far I’d have to scroll before I saw the real reason why Walmart won’t accept any form of contactless payment. It’s all about the data to them. Apple wouldn’t budge on the data collection so Walmart created their own and that’s the hill they are willing to die on.

Not only does Lowe’s not let you put the Lowe’s credit card into Apple Pay, but the Lowe’s credit card doesn’t even have chip - which means you have to swipe the mag stripe. At my local Lowe’s, half the terminals require the stripe facing left, half require it facing right 🤦‍♂️

Apple Pay is great, but I’m not paying 5% more to use it.

They’re doing a horrible job of it. I always use the SAME card at Walmart, they ask if I want paper or SMS receipt, I select SMS, and it asks for the phone number… EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Is it? Never noticed because it takes about 3 seconds to choose my card on my watch and put it on the terminal to hear the ding of acceptance.

Why would Apple Pay lure someone to Lowe’s over Home Depot? Are people really that picky over WHERE they shop over just Apple Pay acceptance? If a business doesn’t take Apple Pay, I just use one of my CC’s with chip/pin. I don’t even think twice about it.

For me it's not a matter of luring me to Lowes over HD. As someone who does a lot of DIY stuff I'm in both stores regularly, because they sometimes fill different niches (Lowes seems to be better with "finished goods", HD better with raw materials and tools, for example). Instead, it's the fact that I currently only NEED to carry a credit card for those two stores. Everywhere else I go regularly (there's probably exceptions but can't think of them right now) support Apple Pay.

I also don't use the Lowes credit card simply because I use try to rack up points on other cards, for travel etc.

I'm not liable for stolen credit card purchases.
If it's a debit card, they have to do an investigation, and that takes time. They don't always find in your favor. Also, it is very inconvenient to have to wait to get a new card to make purchases, change all your autopay information, and things like that.

True, but I haven't used my debit card in years. I don't have it attached to my phone via Apple Pay or otherwise, nor do I carry it.

Screw the 5% that comes with a high interest rate. I would rather just use my 10% militaty discount.

Not as easy as Walgreens, but you can add the Mylowes card to the wallet and scan it at the register. Can also scan directly from the app.
