:( ) Holy **** thats a long line in Japan.

Anywho, it better be something decent. I remember that one day in november a year ago, they gave out crap for goods.

If its iPod Minis and iSight for sure, thatd be sweet. Too bad I'm broke and more towards Anaheim, otherwise I'd buy it. One thing tho, that place will be PACKED! The event I mentioned earlier was in ohio and not even a grand opening and was full of customers... imagine what it will be like in SF :( :D

Now I'm jealous`

how awsome would that be to get one of the bags. I don't really have the money, but hell I'd buy one if i were there. Ahhh what a cruel world!

"No, senior Apple officials said, you can not shake the Lucky Bag."

So this is the new Apple product being announced in Feb., the Lucky Bag?

You, and especially you, Steve Ballmer, cannot shake the Lucky Bag.

Lucky Bag in Japan

I guess it is not mentioned here that Apple Store, Ginza in Tokyo sold some 200 Lucky Bags in the new year season this year.

The lucky bag is a typical Japanese custom in its retail industry (esp. department stores). On January 1 or 2, when stores open for the first time in each year, they sell lucky bags. You cannot see the inside of lucky bags, but usually they are packed with many things, and are heavily discounted (at least by 50%). Most typically, the content of the bags varies from one to another.

Then, the Apple Store Ginza followed suit on January 2 this year. They sold 200 lucky bags at 27,000 yen (which is about USD250). Personally I bought one and the content was:
- 1 .Mac package
- 1 iSight
- 1 Keynote package
- 1 Bluetooth Wireless Mouse
- 1 Bluetooth adapter (from a third party)
- 1 ticket for one seminar at Apple Store Ginza
- 1 10% discount card

As I heard from other 5 or 6 people who bought the bags, most bags contained exactly the same things as mine, while, according to a Mac specialist, some bags included iPods.

I'd like to know what Apple is going to pack in the SF Lucky Bags!!

Riiiiiight. I'm going to spend a quarter of a grand on a bunch of random products.
:rolleyes: Yah. American consumerism at its finest. There are people out there who would saw off their arm, or give blood, for $250 all the while Apple gives you the perfect opportunity to fritter away $250. As always everyone who feels opposed to such an idea can walk right past it, but just the idea alone seems somewhat repugnant. Then again all told the laptop I’m looking at from Apple would be about $4,000. (More then the 2 previous laptops I’ve owned combined.) So its not like I’m being all that thrifty. I’m guessing Apple is looking to hit a cord with those Porsche, Lexis, Mercedes drives out there where dropping a few bills (with those bills being Franklins.)

Hell, I'd give blood for $20 - my heart makes it for free.

$250 is a lot of money when you don't know what you are getting, but if it is really worth $600 then you can ebay the things you don't want. I'd probably do it, if I were there, with it being from Apple. One booth at a local flea market sells grab-bags ranging from $1-$25, but I won't even buy the cheapes one because I have no idea what kind of crap it may contain. But, this promotion sound fun and not at all risky.

Dang.. I'm really tempted to drive up to SF for the weekend now. Sure, I'd get to see my g/f (she's in Lafayette), but that LUCKY BAG! How can you resist?!? Unless it turns out to be, say, $600 worth of G5 RAM, G5 not included... I like the idea of multiple copies of Appleworks, too :D

My guesses at the "non-Apple" product: digi cam? no, too many people already have it. T-shirt? good promotion, so maybe a possibility. A pepsi? How about Microsoft Office (sweet! j/k)? A copy of Finding Nemo? Seriously, probably a cool accessory for the (doubtlessly included) iPod Mini, probably by Belkin -- that's what I would put in it, but that's just me....

I wonder how many "Lucky Bags" they have. Any thoughts? I'm planning on going. I hope they don't run out before I get one.

Napster giftcard? LOL

My guess is:

* iPod mini
* .mac membership (do people actually buy it??) :confused:
* wireless mouse or keyboard
* Appleworks :(
* some accesory for the mini. Remote control, please.
* iTunes giftcard
* I hope not iLife, because everyone already has it... maybe the iSight... that'd be sweet
* I'm running out of ideas, but the Macworld membership sounds likely...
* Or maybe the non-Apple product would be the new Office, haha (I don't know if it was already released or when it will, but anyway...)

I wouldn't buy it, because I would just get stuff I don't need. The iSight would be the most interesting thing, but I really don't need one. If it were for free, though... :D

Any other ideas? :p
