C'mon guys - I will chew off my little finger if there's an iPod mini in there - it's not gonna happen! I can't imagine they've got enough stock!!

You should all listen to Alfred - it'll probably be a bunch of useful, yet mildly unexciting products...

Ouch, Hob, that sounds painful... (although it made me laugh :D ) they don't have enough minis in stock, that is for sure... I've been looking for one like a maniac and the best I could do is march 15th... :( from the store in my university... but this is the store in San Fransisco, so they can't give a bunch of ****! (Or I hope they don't)

As for the .mac account... I got the 60 days for free and I haven't tried it at ll. Guess I can't miss what I haven't used. :p

Guess I fell foul to that one - i DID try it free, then realised I couldn't live without it :'( I fell into the trap and paid the £60!!

That has to be one of the most ubsurd things I've read here. You are telling my you can't imagine that Apple can't come up with 200 iPod minis for a promotion that has been weeks in the making. Where did you go to B-School? If Apple wants to give away 200 minis, I assure you it can find the means to do so, and in a way that would not take from any retail store existing stock.

However, mystery bags are usually filled with overstock junke so it is more likely that a 10GB iPod would be in the bag, rather than a mini.

Here's hoping they do this for the launch of the Apple London Store, I'll be there for sure with ?£200? in hand!!

Only problem with the launch day in London is that there will be *so* many people from the continent there crashing the party!!

Hahah but the bags would cost £300 and contain $500 worth of products, so still being more expensive than just buying the products in the US.

For sure its got to have a mini in it though, a hot product that few people will have already. They should throw in one bag at random with a powerbook or something just to spice it up.

Damn I cant wait for the London Apple Store to open though, how cool that will be!

Sounds great, and I'd buy it if I had an opportunity. But its going to make the lines forming up even worse. And if someone cuts (which will happen) madness will ensue.....

Even better... it could be a new neat gadget that Apple is debuting, and selling along with some cheap software. It seems logical, because if they include items that they have already had, there is a good chance that people already have them, especially since these are Mac fanatics that attend the opening of an Apple Store. It would be really disappointing for the people who buy the bag in anticipation and find that it's all items they already have.

I reallllllly hope you were being sarcastic. If not... *smack* :D

You know you should stop saying that there should be a mini ipod in there, because it might not be! Then you will all get disappointed, and then flame Apple. Just like when it turned out the ipod mini cost $249 and you all though it would cost $199 :)

And dear, Chupa Chupa, in defence of the poor member's opinion whom you have flamed; where did you learn your spelling and grammar?? A B-
School?

How early should we get there?

I'm so getting one. Screw paying rent, Lucky Bag it is!

How early do you think you need to get there? The store opens at 10AM, anyone think 8AM is too early/late?

$250 is a lot, but if Apple can guarantee that the minimum retail value is $600 - it's probably a good deal. We are either going to very envious or laughing in pity.

Probably a good deal!?! What are you on? If the minimum retail value was $300 it would be a good deal. All depends on whether you're a risk taker and don't mind getting random stuff. The biggest problem I'd have with it is the high probability of half of the stuff being items I already own.

And $250 is not a lot of money. That is 135 pounds which many here can easly and regularly burn through in a weekend of partying and socialising.

Also anyone even contemplating going for this is going to be an Apple user, most of us paid a small premium for better machines*. If you spent on average $1500 on a computer from Apple then the $250 goody bag shouldn't seem too expensive.

* Edu discount helps lower the cost as does an active ADC membership, and if you can get one for free through accessible learning programs then bonus. But no-one said this offer is everyone's bag.

THe mystery item is Mr. Burns Bobo bear. What you get is the mysterious head bag.... its chock full of heady goodness :D

Hell, I'd give blood for $20 - my heart makes it for free.

HOLY COW!!! that must be some sort of medical break through!!! ill help you find a med company that wants to study your blood producing heart if you give me 10% of the millions you will make letting people research your heart.

and also your blood is free? man i have to eat food to feed my bone marrow so it will produce blood for me. and unles im doing something wrong, i usually have to pay for food.

i dont mean to pick on you. i just have an intense fear of needles so any excuse i can find not to give the 'free' blood in me will work for me. and well, i dont think there is much money that could be given to convince me either. . . though a lucky bag with unknown surprises. . . . nah, it would get my $250 but no blood.

maybe a dual G5 with a 23" monitor and a video projector loaded with all the ram/hard drive/all the software i want and a nice set of input/output devices for iLife and iMovie (like mixing boards and video camers and a nice set of speaker) . . . that might get some blood

oh yeah. . .

oh yeah. . . the lucky bag

i think there is an iPod mini in it
if not, then there is a mysterious new $250 product in it

then some software to fill the rest of the space

and the non-apple product will be an accessory for the iPod mini or er and accessory for the new mystery product

just to make it interesting, what if this was apple's way of releasing say... the new powerbook g5 to one lucky winner! i know, i know, put your flame throwers down, but that would be a pretty cool marketing gimmick.

More than likely it'll be 10GB ipods with a special ingraving relating to the SF opening, with some accessories and software. The ipod and ebgraving would be valued at $330, throw in the accessories maybe a dock ($50) and the new headphones ($50) and .mac ($100), keynote ($100)

With these itens the bag would already be valued at $630

Who knows??
