It’s absolutely a Thunderbolt solution. It’s the only way I’ve found it to be acceptable for a main display replacement. This is a WiFi/Ethernet solution. It never use your thunderbolt port.
The dongle is just a fake EDID dongle to fool the GPU to believe there's a real display on it.
Just did a quick test. $10 for the app on my iPad Pro 12.9 2018 and used a USBC to USBA cable to connect to a Surface laptop 4. Pretty good results! I also have USBC to USBC (didnt try it yet as i am using the USBC port to charge it right now). Was surprised with the performance using that Usb-C to Usb-A. Good but for $10 bux! Thanks for the tip! Was able to use 60fps with the best performance setting.
Will this work via daisy chaining TB devices or does it require an independent TB link?Works great with my M1 mini to my 27” iMac (not retina) over thunderbolt bridge. Lag is pretty much non-existent and completely adequate for a main monitor.
Ethernet and WiFi are ok for second screen static work- emails, spreadsheets etc. but noticeable lag and compression.
Not sure on that one. Mine is connected TB1 out of 2011 iMac via USB-C dongle to M1 Mini. Will this work via daisy chaining TB devices or does it require an independent TB link?
Ok Thanks will have to wait and give it a try and get back. Do you know if this device reduces the number of 'normal' displays when in use? Sidecar for example doesn't inhibit the use of 'normal' additional external two no 6k displays which are possible for my 2020 imac for example, so i assume this is the same with Luna and two external displays can be used in tandem with luna? I am currently only using 2 x 2560x1440 (2K) TB screens and I want luna to power screen on 2013 MBP. Ive tried Duet, Airdisplay etc but they are pretty useless. I like the idea I can connect Via TB which also helps with sharing local TB HD.Not sure on that one. Mine is connected TB1 out of 2011 iMac via USB-C dongle to M1 Mini.
Just a guess that it'll work with any connection as long as you can set up the thunderbolt bridge network.
I’m guessing your machine would need to be able to support an additional display at your MBPs resolution, regardless if it is Luna or normal display.Ok Thanks will have to wait and give it a try and get back. Mmm doesn’t sound promising then. I think the bandwidth will be there but screen count would be exceeded in that case. Thanks for your time, I thought it would allow additional screen count like Air Display, Duet and Sidecar, albeit the first two are very poor quality over WiFi and don’t think they do a thunderbolt connection. If it worked with the others then maybe it would work. Worst case just ship it back.Mmm doesn’t sound promising then.
