Is the new Mac mini M1 with 16GB memory capable to drive a 49 inch super ultra wide monitor with a resolution of 5120 * 1440 at 120 Hz without any problems ?

What port at the mac mini M1 has to be used to connect this monitor ?

Have you seen these threads?

After a lot of reading on internet about what ultra wide monitor is the sweet spot for video editing it seems to be the LG 38WN95C. This is a 38 inch monitor, IPS, 21:9, 3840*1600 pixels, 1 ms and 144 Hz refresh rate. Now I have seen here a lot of people having problems driving ultra wide monitors. So does anyone tried this monitor on the mac mini M1 16Gb/512 GB ? Were you able to get the full potential out of this monitor ? How did you connect it to the Mac mini M1 (which port and what type/quality cable) ? At the moment I am using an iMac 24 inch from 2009. It served me well but now it is time for a complete new setup which shoals last me again another 11 years. I am just editing 2k video so I not really need a top of the line mac like the mac pro.

edit : an additional question I have is what about the resolution of this LG monitor ? The vertical resolution (pixels/inch) is much lower than my 11 years old 24 inch iMac (silver version).

I am running the m1 mini 16GB with a Dell U3818DW 38” ultra wide 3840 x 1600 just fine. I use the included usb-c cable to connect to the mini. The monitor does blank out/black out briefly and back few times a day, but that doesn’t seem to be limited to specific monitor.

Hi, Thanks for your feed back.

Already mentioned in a different discussion, but once again:

Can't really explain why, but:

Just got my Samsung C49, hooked it up via TB3->DP Adapter + DP cable (all rated for 8K60Hz) - booted up into macOS - was automatically set to 5120x1440 - only had to switch from 60 to 120Hz in the dropdown menu, didn't do anything else.
After first shutdown behaved a bit flaky, but after setting the DP-Version "down" to 1.2 everything worked nicely (even though 5120x1440@120HZ is supposed to need about 26Gbit and DP 1.2 only delivers about 17Gbit it's working without hiccups...
When set to 60Hz I can also choose HDR in Display settings

Dear friends,

today I upgraded my Samsung's firmware to Version 1007.2 - immediately lost all issues. Screen wakes up as intended even when running 5120x1440 @ 120Hz @ DP 1.4. For fun 5120x1440@100Hz@ DP1.4 WITH HDR works as well ! Firmware-Upgrade taken from here:

Hope it works in general
