My LG Ultrafine 27" monitors are only Thunderbolt, The SIIG HDMI to USB-C does not work! any one found a solution please?
The SIIG adapter only supports up to 3840x2160, but it does work. But it would be a shame to not run 5120x2880 or HiDPI 2560x1440.

I will not upgrade to M1 until I can run thunderbolt 3 times 2 at 5k. Not gonna do it (Dana Carvey voice)

Hi all,

Does anybody knows if there's any other HDMI to USB-C Port 4K 60Hz Converter adapter (not the SIIG adapter, this one is out of stock at the moment) available to buy that will also work with the 4K LG UltraFine monitor?

Thank you so much! ✌️

That works, I'll pre-order one. Thank you so much currocj!
The original SIIG adapter carried this statement: "Not compatible with LG 27" Ultra Fine monitors" so although I would like to take a gamble, I am holding off for now. @thehamesu if you do have success with it, do share your experience.

So what’s the conclusion with the SIGG adapter? Can I connect 1LG 5K via thunderbolt 3 and another LG 5k via HDMI using the SIIG but only at 4K? Is this confirmed? I don’t really mind the second being 4K as long as it works.

My m1 mini is being shipped but just tried this with my m1 Pro MacBook Pro 16 and the SIIG adapter did not work with my 2 LG Ultrafine 5ks. I’m worried that this will be the case with the m1 mini as well.

So I can use one 5k ultra fine via thunderbolt and the second 5k via HDMI using the SIIG?

I've been trying to figure this out myself... I recently got a MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2, 2022) from work to replace a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports).

The old MBP worked fine with my 2 LG Ultrafine 5K displays (1 connected via TB3 cable, and 1 connected via USB-C cable), but regardless of the various combinations of DisplayLink docks, HDMI/DisplayPort to USB-C adapters, Thunderbolt 3/4 cables, USB-C 3.2 cables, etc., (luckily, I was able to expense or return them) I could only ever get 1 display to work at a time.

After scouring the internet, I found this article from manufacturer, Plugable (albeit from October 04, 2021): https://plugable.com/blogs/news/things-to-know-about-thunderbolt-3-displays-and-the-m1-mac

It seems it isn't possible to use dual TB3 displays with base-model M1/M2 MBPs? I'd love for someone to prove me wrong ;), but I've given up in the meantime.

Oh, the M2 Mac mini, even the entry level $599 version, can easily handle dual thunderbolt / LG Ultrafine 5K monitors.

Simultaneously supports up to two displays:
  • One display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz over Thunderbolt and one display with up to 5K resolution at 60Hz over Thunderbolt or 4K resolution at 60Hz over HDMI

Sell your M1 Mini and get an M2 Mini. Dual 5K works flawlessly out of the box
