On my M1 I feel it's a bit slower, only some few tasks are fast. Changing my workflow is the most time intensive part with Tahoe for me.
I have spotlight and Ai disabled so I don't see any lags. Can't wait for macOS 27, optimized for M Series Chips. Will be slimmer and faster.

Just passed by the store and tried the performance with the M4 and M4 Pro MacBook Pro. The M4 performance is the same as my M1 Pro MacBook, the desktop animation stutters same as M1 Pro . However, the M4 Pro has no issues.

For me, the .0.1 upgrade fixed the stutter, and the overall system feels as smooth as it's always been.
However, as an off-topic, my Spotlight is mostly broken.
I can't find emails in Spotlight or Mail.app, mails that show up in web gmail without problems, also searching files from cmd-space rarely works, but works via Finder window searchbox.
Meh. Annoying but livable.

Try to rebuild Spotlight index :

Is anybody who is seeing stuttering using Bartender 6?

Whenever my system starts to stutter I quit Bartender and everything comes back to almost (!) normal.

New Release of bartender 6.1.1 with the following fix:
  • When running Bartender for long periods of time, WindowServer CPU usage should no longer creep up
I keep watching how it runs

I have a 16" MBP M1 Max 32gb ram and Tahoe has absolutely nerfed it. My battery life is atrocious and even using the native journal app is painful. It will lag like crazy with the keystrokes. I have no idea what's going on. I'm tempted to wipe my Macbook clean and start from scratch again. Very disappointing. I'm sure they want folks to buy up the new M5 chips.

I have your the same model, but with 2TB SSD. I went back to macOS Sequoia and will camp there before venturing out to Tahoe. Might try again when v.1 comes out on a volume drive, but Apple might not care so much now as they don’t sell any M1’s still except the Air at Walmart.

I ended up wiping my MBP clean and starting over. Performance has improved.

Im here on a M1 Max 32gb RAM 2TB SSD 16" to report that 26.1 is infinitely better than 26.0. Performance feels back to where Im used to it being. I ran the RC1 for a week and then just updated the single build increment to the public version. It's much much better. It was unlivable in many ways before and I am very happy to see that they made the adjustments they did. There's still some edges to clean up here and there with liquid glass (I have tinted on, and it will never go off) but performance wise we're back in the pocket.

Anecdotally, I was on a Zoom call for an hour this morning with my normal load of like 20 background apps open and about 70% memory used and I lost about 20% battery life. That feels on par to me.

The most important thing for me is the speed and responsiveness and I'm again happy with 26.1.

Thank you for the report. I have the same Mac, so I am encouraged. I will try again macOS Tahoe and see what happens. MacOS Sequoia is very solid on the M1 MacBook Pro.

I also have the same configuration. It seems somewhat snappier on 26.1 but still heats up and eats battery for no good reason.
My M2 Pro is snappier, cooler and the battery life is much better.

Don't!
I had to go back to Sequoia after a week with 26.1 DB4. IT IS NOT BETTER! especially with UI animations

16" M1 Pro 32GB of RAM

Thanks for the warning..
It is my main Mac for FCP, Motion and logic. Cannot afford performance hits or UI quarks. Probably will hold out until 26.4. MacOS Sequoia has been very stable. Sometimes I create a volume with macOS Ventura as FCP runs well with v.10.8

Anyone having issues with connecting the Imac to the Ipad? I forget what its called, but before i could use my mouse and keyboard on my nearby Ipad Pro 11inch M4 but now it wont stay! Hopefully an update to fix this

Yes, since OS 26 I can no longer do this continuity feature. Before I could smoothly push the mouse cursor through the screen of my 14” M1 Pro MBP and it would show up on my M4 iPad Pro. Now I can’t get it to work!

Other than that quirk, haven’t seen any performance hits fortunately. Currently on Mac OS 26.1 and iPad OS 26.1.
