M1 vs A14

Obviously a bit premature without machine in hand, but are they both in the same ballpark in terms of speed?

I’m thinking a MacBook Air might be a better choice long term than the iPad Air 4 + magic keyboard.

We have no idea if the M1 is just a repackaged A14 or a beefed up A14 or something different. We have to wait.
