And the second version of Apple silicon.Except this is like what, the 5th version of the MBA? What is your point?
And the second model to use this chassis.
Yeah, not sure I get their point.

That stuff is under embargo. They can't say that yet.The article seems just a touch hasty with no validation of the SSD performance issues and thermal challenges, and no benchmarking.
I get wanting to have stuff published but personally I’d appreciate a more thorough article over a hasty deadline meeting one.
Just cannot do the notch.
Because it's either $700 or $1000 more depending on processor? At that point why not just get the 14 pro?
Really? The answer is no. I can’t just write “no” or a moderator will message me saying my message is frivolous, so I am writing this to say that no, it’s not worth it.
It all boils down to how much you want to spend.I’ve been struggling with deciding on an upgrade to my nearly 10 year old retina MBP. The M2 air looks great. But the 14” pro also looks appealing with all the extra ports. I could probably hold out longer, but I would love to start transitioning to a new laptop before this one dies. So many options!
The Air with 16gb and 1 tb is around 1900, the pro is 2200 for the same specs. Thats a 300 dollar difference, not factoring the sales that the pro typically has, which go from 200 to 300 off. If you wait for a sale its just lets say 100 dollars difference between the two. Thats something to consider.Because it's either $700 or $1000 more depending on processor?
My 2021 16” pro is hands down the best laptop I’ve ever owned…by a lot.Never buy version 1 of anything.
My bad—miscalculated. $300 is definitely a much smaller bump and worth considering moving up to the Pro. I am probably going $1699 for 16/512 since I don’t do high end video and have plenty of external storage options. The Air with 16gb and 1 tb is around 1900, the pro is 2200 for the same specs. This defies logic. Even if there were no notch on the screen, there would be absolutely ZERO more screen space, unless of course you run every application in full screen modeagreed - notch is one of the worst "features" Apple has ever brought into their product lines, and it can't die soon enough.
Aren’t both models kind of a version 1? Either a new type of chip or a new redesign.Never buy version 1 of anything.
My needs sure don't require an MBP. I just want enough performance to not annoy me like my 2020 i5 MBA does. I never take my Mac anywhere so the format and the extra weight is no issue to me at all. What I get for roughly $300 more for the 14" Pro vs an M2 MBA the way I have priced both has me thinking of going with a Pro. will give me so little for my MBA I just might just give it away to someone in the family or sell it cheap for some life karma points. SI think it was, but I also had other reasons like MagSafe and rectifying my M1 MBA decision to go with the base model, because it was clearly not enough for basic things I wanted with 256 GB storage and 8 GB RAM lol.
Ended up getting a M1 Pro MBP with 1 TB and 16 GB of RAM because the prices were getting close to the MBP with the M2 MBA and the additional expense was worth it for HDR, ProMotion, bigger screen, and even higher pixel density, with better speakers.
