M2 fanless heat issue

I seen a couple reviews now between MacBook M1 vs M2. They are saying there is allot more heat with the M2 will this be an issue on the Air due to no fan at all. Also will that use the slower ssd on the air as they did on the M2 MacBook

If you're basing your opinion on a Max Tech video, it was M2 MacBook Pro that generated heat, probably because fan wasn't working probably, so that doesn't show M2 MacBook Air would have a heat issue.

In the video using blackmagic showed half the speed of ssd on the M2 13 pro vs the M1.
They speculated its was a cost saving

Yes, but that was due to the fan curve being broken in MacOS. Using a fixed curve didn't solve it as the M2 was throttled by then at 3.3GHz (or 3.2GHz).
 
I just watched a vid with a M1 air vs a M2 pro and the Air gets 3k R/W which is what I get on mine and the M2 got 1400's R/W. I would be very disappointed if that's the case. Maybe its a software issue, I got better Reads on my 2020 i5 on Big Sur vs Catalina.

Please understand there are physical differences between those two tests. On the M2, the Mac was only equipped with one NAND chip for storage. On the M1, the Mac had two NAND chips. That extra chip allows for parallelism to kick in and increase R/W speeds.

what's this SSD thing about and how is it related to heat? I don't get it ,mind linking sth to it perhaps ? the SSD in M1 MBA already are rather slow compared to the competition

cost saving when u spend 200$ for a ssd upgrade ? cost saving when the base MBA cost 1500€ ? who are we kidding .

also a 500$ windows laptop (my sister's for example) has 6k r/w , c'mon

I have no idea if its an issue or not OP brought it up. I did watch this video tho. Here's what I get on my M1 Air.

So should we expect slower R/W on the M2 macbook air
 
it is important to keep in mind that while the M2 in the Pro might exude more heat than M1, it is possible that the new design would bring with it updated thermal thus allowing the M2 air to at the very least not throttle more quickly than the M1 air. It’s is of course just a reminder, not a hypothesis or an analysis of any kind.

Did you hear yourself? Throttled by then. Until the fans cool things off. Can’t see the problem here. Also problem with these “clickbait” videos, how did the curve get broken? Did the guy do it to get clicks? Or is it an issue in Monterey, or god forbid a Ventura beta. Was the “problem” fixed in the recent update supporting m2s?

Seriously have to question each one of these guys since the clown ram a battery test of a Samsung phone in power save mode to an iPhone. Guess which one had longer battery life? Of course comparing a Samsung in battery save mode to a regular mode Samsung would win too. Beware of sensationalism. There to drive clicks

The new air is bigger, new screen, by definition been redesigned. But no question it could throttle under heavy load thus the 13 MBP with active cooling

bu...but everyone knows that on these crappy Windows laptops they only use cheap unreliable components destined to fail, while Apple is using premium low speed components that justify the price tag :p

This was a well tested device. How is it clickbait? Do you know what a fan curve is?

Apple will throttle the M2 chip in MacBook Air like they will do when it comes out in the M2 iPad pro.
