Someone on another forum added vinyl to theirs citing the same sharpness hahaha. Another one also used sandpaper but then took it back to apple because the aluminium was scratched. Jesus where do these people come from ! 🤣🤣🤣

Why? It had a **** processor and keyboard and ports.
i had a 2016 12" for 6 years. used it for email, web, notes, writing, calendar, affinity photo, rapidweaver. etc etc. often 5 or 6 apps open at once.

never got memory errors, no weird behavior. actually loved the butterfly keyboard. it got warm, but not surprising. good battery life (not in the last year or so, down to about 2 hours).

backed up with carbon copy cloner over the network (to a drive connected to my imac). moved files between both macs with airdrop, and then, universal control. so, rarely plugged anything into it (a flash drive occasionally).

loved that thing, my fave mac ever (& i've owned many).

EDIT: the 2015 12" was a dog, i had 2 friends with it; sluggish as hell. the 2017 was even better than mine (of course), but i held out for a later model (which never happened... YET)

This reminds me of the person on here a few years ago. They were going to apply nail polish to their Mac, or something like that! Can't find the thread unfortunately.

stop resting your wrists there. no matter what your body position is, if any part of you is pressing against the edge of the machine, you're not typing/trackpadding properly. fix your ergonomics before you injure yourself (and not from the edge of the machine)! -_-

I just received my new starlight MBA today. I use it mostly on my lap on the couch. I have had the M1 MBA for a couple of months (still 90-day return window Costco) and before that several versions of 15" MacBook Pros forever. Anyhow, after using it for a short time I am noticing that when I type the edge is really sharp and digging/cutting into my skin. Uncomfortably so. Has anybody else noticed this?
If you throw it like Oddjob’s hat will it cut the head off a statue?

Not like actually cutting the skin, just digging in and leaving lines, red marks, etc. Previous unibody models the edge seems to be more rounded and smooth. Granted I am not a touch typist on the couch, so maybe its an awkward hand position, but it is pretty noticebale.
any edge will leave "lines" in your palm
a desk, a laptop etc Im bleeding all over here

I'm finding the sharp edge annoying as well. I think it comes down to the size of your hands. Unfortunately my hands are just the right size where the edge digs into the base of my palm. That didn't happen on my old 15" MBP. I tried my sisters 14" MBP and the distance between the keyboard and the edge is just slightly longer such that I don't have that problem. Obviously on the 16" MBP there is no issue at all as my wrist lies flat on the surface, away from the edge.

My advice for someone considering a MBA would be to try it and see. It all depends on your hand size. I'm beginning to think I should have gotten the 14" MBP just of this issue alone. It really is bothersome, but I suppose I'll just live with it.

THE WORST!!!!!
I JUST bought a refurbished 16" MBP M1 Max of off the Apple site. The EDGES across the ENTIRE front are beyond sharp (not just the notch. Why on EARTH didn't they just bevel it slightly? Or better yet, copy the edge on the top, screen portion. Adding a case to a 16" makes it so heavy. For $3,700 (M1 Max / 64 Ram / 4 TB drive) I should not have to put plastic tape over the edges, buy a heavy case, or carry around a squishy pad for the front. For a company that spends so much time on design, I am BAFFLED!!!! Why Apple, Why???? May return... as if there are other options. Urg.

And the springy sound when you click the trackpad is suspect. By the way, see my post on TRACKPAD ISSUES with the 14". These are all HUGE flaws in design.

The 16" did not make it better for me. So frustrating.

My MBA m2 does't have sharp edges.
And I am using a case for it as well.

I have exactly the same issue. I really don't like sharp edges on the sides and bottom. On 13" Air it's just annoying if you have small hands.

When I compare user experience with my second Linux laptop Thinkpad X230 it's great - really friendly design to hands.

Now I'm looking for some tooling or a workaround on how to deal with it.
I did not find any "cover" for these edges on the market so far...
