Guessing the super thin design is keeping Apple from putting the higher end M3's in the iMac because of thermal concerns (i.e. no upselling the higher end CPU/GPU's on it) and so its stuck with only the base M3.

Actually glad they kept all the colors - cause I doubt we'd get such a selection again. Will be replacing an Intel iMac next year with one of these. Between the 24 inch only size and no higher end CPU / GPU options Apple is just leaving money on the table.

At some point, I didn't care about all the hi-tech leaps in speed, resolution, and memory. It's all been improved so much in the last ten years that it's imperceptible on the year-to-year advancements. What's important to me now is larger-screen real estate. My children are older and homework is more complicated, many pages are open simultaneously. One of my kids is autistic and my old iMac 27 is the only size that'll hold his attention. Homework waits for no one... please make a larger screen size Apple.

The fact that the M3 iMac starts with 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of memory in 2023 is wild to me... not only are those the same numbers as a $1099 iPhone 15 Pro, but this means that Apple is releasing a desktop computer with less storage and memory than some Android flagships.
Exactly. My Galaxy S10+ is now 4 years old, is still fast and has 8 GB of RAM.

In Australia the iMac is now insanely priced IMO. $2,499 for the base model 8/256 with ethernet.
In comparison the Mac mini with the same 8/256 spec is $999.

Thats $1500 for a 24" monitor!

I was all ready to pick up an iMac, but now going to get a mini instead.
$2499 in NZ also due to the exchange rate.

Hard to find a nice 4.5K display and it also includes Apple keyboard and mouse. It’s a great AIO desktop.

I found it pathetic when they tried to sell the 24-inch as better than the previous 27-inch and they've zoomed in the screen trying to make it big.. for real?!
I know right!! Is he trying to say don’t expect a 27” iMac ever?! At least upgrade the base storage to 512GB!!

They offer different sizes for iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro. Why not for the iMac? Surely they’re working on something right?

The base memory and storage configurations are a bit "thin." But, IMO the M3 iMac is a very nice upgrade over the old M1.

I'm not sure I'd want a new computer with just 8GB of non-upgradable memory, but disk storage is easy enough to manage with external drives.

Overall, however, an M3 iMac is about all the computer that most people need (for a desktop).

That said, I'd much prefer an M3 Mac mini with a separate display.

LMFAO 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of memory as a base in a 24 inch in the year 2023......wow....

LOL, 2 USB, why not 8? 24" screen, no thanks, not doing a massive downgrade after a decade of 27" 5k. Zero innovation. Who cares if an iMac is thin? How stupid! Still Massive bezels for no reason other than wanting to make it thin. I guess my 2019 iMac will stay with me a few more years. 8GB RAM?!?!? Is it 2013 in Cupertino? My 2014 iMac had 32GB. Up to 24? LOL. So you can surf the internet, check email, and little else. 256GB of storage? Is it 2006?

You could always buy a Dell with similar specs, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. It costs $1,896 but is on sale and now costs almost like iMac 24". The GPU performance is much worse though and the screen res is only 1920x1080. You could also buy Microsoft's only all-in-one for $4500 but if you configure the iMac with 24GB RAM and 1TB SSD you can pay half, $2299.

Was hoping for a nice black color imac, and at least a 16gig base ram in 2024 without an upgrade and at least a 1 TB hd as a base. Does anybody really care how thin it is, i sure dont, i prefer thick and packed with machinery that can be fix and upgraded if broken or needed. Im still on my 2009 24' imac here, i would have liked a 32 inch screen too. I was ready to buy this year but i just might wait to see reviews on these or what might be coming on the mac mini. if you guys has a choice of these new imacs or tricking out a mac mini at this point in time which would you choose?

Good god, some of the comments here… getting that burn feeling out of the “barrage of messages that add nothing to the conversation and just makes everything less enjoyable or just a waste of time” (just like my own over here, guilty your honor!). Week after week after month over the years… 😪

But yes, 8GB of RAM, yes 256GB SSD, don’t buy them or at least not in that configuration, or buy the Microsoft or All in one Dells as the example comment above this and enjoy that instead… but no, HAD to leave that repeated to death predictable comments.

Do you know what was my latest iMac? 2020 27”. Do you know how many iMac M1 or now M3 I got? Zero, because they don’t make sense to my needs. What did I upgrade to then? Mac Studio + two studio display, because it made much more sense than sticking to the iMac line. How many lines of text did I spend complaining or having an opinion about that? Zero.

But go ahead, continue making the forums the same tiring and ever declining space.

Could maybe wait for what the Mac mini might offer and get a 32” on the side in that case… or if 24” has been good enough for you then maybe a 24GB based one would be quite the upgrade and just get a separate 32” (the base Ms support one more external display up to 6K) for two on the side.

Myself I jumped from iMacs to Mac studio + display combo a year ago… made sense at the time.

A machine from 2021, with a marginal improvement in the all-day tasks, same worst design mouse, and finally 200$ for USB-A. Makes me laugh. Marginally.

No major changes. Just the new Apple Silicon inside. Glad to see that Apple has decided not to make the colours more pastel like

I know right!! Is he trying to say don’t expect a 27” iMac ever?!
Not in the near future, no. That sentence was crafted to put an end to rumors of a larger iMac. The 24" replaces both the 4K and 5K iMacs.

Could be that with 80% laptop vs 20% desktop market share, they don’t see enough volume for two sizes. Or they just can’t make a large iMac with the quality, price point and profit margin they want.

📱 < 💻 < 🖥️ < 📺

Eventually they’ll come around. All this TV+ content wants to be seen on a large screen. And a VR/AR headset doesn’t count.

I can give you a review right here: The new M3 iMacs are amazingly powerful and nice machines (especially in orange). No reason to upgrade if you already own an M1 iMac.

Mac mini forecast has a M3/Pro chip upgrade, no new form factor, same price. 😂
