Apple has started preparing its marketing, sales, and retail teams as it gears up for the March release of new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models featuring M4 chips, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Writing in his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that current models are also seeing inventory drawn down at stores, which is another signal that a launch is nearing. A launch has been thought to be imminent for a while now. In fact, it was originally rumored to be planned as Apple's first hardware launch of the year, but that turned out to be the iPhone 16e, which debuted over the past week.

Gurman last week said Apple will begin selling new MacBook Air models featuring its latest M4 chip by March "at the latest," so his wording suggests he is fully confident that the machines are arriving next month. Whether that's in the first half of March or later in the month is still unclear.

Twelve days ago Gurman claimed that the machines would be introduced "within weeks." While he's betting on March, Gurman seems not further forward on learning the exact release timing of the new versions of the company's most popular laptop.

Apple inadvertently confirmed the upcoming M4 ‌MacBook Air‌ machines back in December when the macOS Sequoia 15.2 software update included files for unreleased "Mac16,12" and "Mac16,13" machines. The files referenced the "‌‌MacBook Air‌‌ (13-inch, M4, 2025)" and the "‌‌MacBook Air‌‌ (15-inch, M4, 2025)."

Its been four years screen dents during manufacturing when are they gonna fix this. People really need to inspect their units and return them showing them a signal not to accept flaws in their screens. These QC does not happen on much cheaper laptops.

Apple has become boring. Where is the excitement? Where's the color and fun? Boring expected incremental updates year after year. Tim's legacy. iPhone 16e is such a Tim product.
Show me a product category that’s still exciting year after year. That’s what happens when a product reaches maturity. AI is a copout from everyone. It’s an excuse not to even try anymore. Apple is far from the only.

I’ve still got my M2 MacBook Air with 8 GB RAM from 2022. Still going strong and a fantastic laptop. Can’t believe it will be 3 years old this Oct. but it should serve me a long while yet.

Been a fantastic laptop for all my usage, which isn’t Pro by any means 😂

Hoping it will last a long while yet 😀

People complaining about it not being exciting…

On the one hand, you buy a laptop the day you need it. It serves a purpose and you kind of forget about it. Until it needs replacing, most people don’t care about M1, M2 to M4.

On the other hand if Apple aren’t making exciting laptops enough for you… or you prefer other designs for ergonomics, there’s loads of other companies making exciting stuff too. As long as you’re not stuck in the Apple ecosystem go and try it out. You may be pleasantly surprised.

I'm excited as the next guy for the M4 Air, but I'm getting tired of hearing about it being imminent and just around the corner.

Likewise, and I am curious why it's taking so long. Considering it's been supported in software updates since December, and the M4 chip has been around for nearly a year at this point, and apparantely there aren't any other major updates to the Air that would warrant such delay.

Is it just that there's an excessive inventory of M3 Airs that Apple wants to clear first? Or maybe there's some other surprise that's limiting supply or forcing a delay? Could we possibly see the new rumoured Apple Bluetooth/WiFi 7 chip make its debut in the M4 Air?

In all fairness, the products have been so solid, I have no complaints from any of them except the AirPods Max (mine have condensed or got faulty until they die several times, even with only extreme careful temperature controlled indoor use).

Still using Thunderbolt Display, studio display, M1 Ultra, AirPods Pro 2, m4 iPad, Watch 9, iphone, Apple TV, heck even an airtime capsule WiFi, etc each since their release date to absolutely no issues hardware wise (software is another story, they just can’t stop breaking what was already fixed).
I don’t mind if they are boring; they do the work, they are convenient, they make my daily life easier.

The days at the non-mac inclined job is way more full of friction.

Anyone think anything other than chipset going to be different on it from M3? E.g a port on the right side, c1 modem, or new color?

I got tired of waiting so just picked up an M4 MBP from Costco for 1399 on Thursday.
If the eventual release of the M4 MBA is anything worth trading for, Costco offers a 90 day return window so.
Honestly so far the thing I love most about this M4 Pro is the third port on the right hand side after being limited to just two on the left hand side with my previous M1 and M3 MBA. It's a bit chonky by comparison but whether or not I do swap it out will largely depend on the final price point.
