Holding out for the M4 Ultra computers. I want hardware raytracing on my next Mac.
Some of us want computing competence and could care less about "the color and fun."Apple has become boring. Where is the excitement? Where's the color and fun? Boring expected incremental updates year after year. Tim's legacy. iPhone 16e is such a Tim product.
You might like that. However for Apple's "entire line-up - Air / Pro / Mini / iMac / Studio / even Pro - to be released at the same time each year" would be a terrible idea for Apple. A manufacturer like Apple needs to spread product sales across the year as much as possible.I'm a Fanboy but like to add a bit of common sense to my reasoning. Since the M1, it just doesn't seem to make logical sense anymore from a sales perspective to stagger different models. The M4 sees Apple Silicon reach maturity and I think it's now time for the entire line-up - Air / Pro / Mini / iMac / Studio / even Pro - to be released at the same time each year so people can make informed decisions. We don't even know if they'll be an M5-base ahead of a M4-Ultra release and that's just nonsense.
I'm still holding out to be able to compare them, but I'm leaning towards the MBP myself.Couldn't wait for this, bought the MacBook pro![]()
You could care less? That means you do care. Some of us don't.Some of us want computing competence and could care less about "the color and fun."
I know they were sooooooo much more exciting when they didn't upgrade their computers for over a year! Now we get yearly upgrades! How incredibly boring! How dare they!Apple has become boring. Where is the excitement? Where's the color and fun? Boring expected incremental updates year after year. Tim's legacy. iPhone 16e is such a Tim product.
Totally agree with you. I wish they would go back to one annual upgrade for all Macs at the same time. Bring back MacWorld in January.I'm a Fanboy but like to add a bit of common sense to my reasoning. That’s great. I wouldn’t criticise anyone for buying a MBP. It’s a great laptop. For me it’s too heavy and too expensive and I just don’t need all that power.Well do I need it maybe not but is it fun to use YES : Better screen, speakers, ports... and I like that !
Before buying MacBook Pro I was thinking about MacBook Air + iPhone SE 4 but I made the right choice because the 16e is too expensive... So I could enjoy MacBook pro like 1.5 months before !!I'm still holding out to be able to compare them, but I'm leaning towards the MBP myself.
Not only power bro : screen, speakers, ports and batteryThat’s great. I wouldn’t criticise anyone for buying a MBP. It’s a great laptop. For me it’s too heavy and too expensive and I just don’t need all that power.
Anyone think anything other than chipset going to be different on it from M3? E.g a port on the right side, c1 modem, or new color?
How much of a difference will it be than an M3? If it doesn't pack TB 5, there's almost no reason to purchase this one over current gen.
If it does have TB 5, best believe a new Apple display with high refresh rate and HDR will be available given the output, and soon, as Apple has used a least common denominator approach to monitor compatibility in 2018/19, when the MacBook Airs and Minis started supporting 5 and 6K displays.
If Apple is going to launch a display with newer technology, all of its machines will run on it.
But the M4 Mini (non-Pro) shipped with TB 4, so probably not.

Space black is MacBook Pro exclusive... won't come to the air.New Space Black color, 3x TB4.
MacBook Air won't probably have a 120hz mini led 14.2 inch display, a 24h of battery, a High-fidelity six-speaker sound system, an HDMI port, an sd card port and even more things couldn't be on the base model air like 10 cores CPU and GPU (this might be available for extra 200$ or more) and of course base 256gb not 512gb so an extra 200$.0% chance TB5 come to the Airs. Especially since the M4 Macbook pro doesn't come with it. TB5 is only available on the M4 Pro and M4 Max
The M4 Macbook Air will be exactly identical to the M4 iPad Pro & M4 Macbook Pro [Especially the M4 iPad Pro]
The only separation between all three is the single fan on the Macbook Pro.
It'll be here the first week of March.I'm excited as the next guy for the M4 Air, but I'm getting tired of hearing about it being imminent and just around the corner.
