I think that's unlikely w/ a fanless model

M4 Mini Pro runs hot apparently, and that's with active cooling in a better thermal chassis situation (not jammed in a laptop)
I wonder if they can make a MacBook Air with a fan? Does it fits? If yes it would be cool even with the base m4. M3 MacBook Air gets hot so a fan would be good.

I'm on the border. I got the M1 Pro because I needed to be running Parallels for one specific piece of Windows software while often sharing my screen (that caused my old Mac to beachball half the time). I don't have that use case anymore (although, in theory, it could come back - but probably not likely, and I could always just buy and remote into a cheap n100 box for that use case). We're also investigating AI at work, but I'm high enough up the chain at this point its unlikely to be my machine doing the heavy lifting; and because of that I probably don't need the Pro. But not sure M1 Pro -> regular M4 is actually a significant enough change to warrant an upgrade. But Apple is giving me $925 for the current machine on trade-in, so now seems to be a good time to make a trade.

Wife would certainly be happy if I held onto the M1 for another year or two.
I’m looking to upgrade (or downgrade?!) from an M1 Pro to an M4 Air solely for portability reasons and in terms of CPU the M4 obviously improves quite significantly over the M1 Pro in single and multi-core benchmarks even with fewer cores. It’s the GPU and bandwidth that lack in comparison.

If you have graphic intensive use cases you may want to go pro again but if it’s mostly cpu work the Air will be a decent improvement!

I think it’s going to look about like this:

I'd also like to see it tomorrow, but I'd bet on March 4th. They released the m3 air on March 4th as well, and often tease multiple launched in a week.

If they’d release at 15” with 4TB storage, would be a day one purchase.
My 2012 MBP has 6tb and is my daily driver. I would love a new MBA with 4tb option since the new MBP is so expensive. If 4tb is an option tomorrow I will buy instantly otherwise I will wait another cycle. Fingers crossed.
