So no obvious sign of imminent release.

BTOs and also mainly NA stores, Europe and Australia are still fairly far behind though too, 21-25 for A BTO 15” here on the UK at the moment

Apple wants to replace the costly M3 chip with lower cost and higher yield M4.
As to when a new MBA with M4 will be released is anyone's guess but Apple has a vested interest in moving to M4 as soon as possible. They will just sell all the M3 units they have in stock at Apple stores and warehouses and once inventory is low enough they will sell M4. I think it is simple as that.
However, since the cost of the M2 MBA is so low and the chip is still very good and it is likely that the new Air models will be basically the same as M2 models except for the chip and most air users don't need a lot of horsepower and are cost conscious I am not sure the M4 air's will sell as fast except with loyal Apple customers.
These M series chips are pretty amazing.
I want to upgrade my M2 MBA but I will probably wait another year until M5 and maybe a redesign or new screen panel. The MBA and MBP models in my opinion are really well designed.
For me if the rumors are true that the MBP line will get OLED screens this year or next I want to get a mini led screen before they are gone. I have several Windows laptops with 120hz OLED screens and I actually prefer my humble MBA 60hz IPS LCD screen in most cases. I wish Apple would develop micro LED screens as an improvement to mini LED and resolve the blooming issues and would be the best screen on the market in my opinion. OLED screens are great on a phone but they have odd white balance, not too bright and other issues not found in mini LED. I had blooming on my M1 MBP 16" but after using OLED screens I can live with blooming over OLED issues as color reproduction on the mini led is just amazing.

I don’t think there will be a redesign… Maybe there will be one with the M6 since mbp will have one.
I better hope this new Mac air comes with wifi 7. Else not getting it.
In a redesign what would you change? The size is good, there needs to be keyboard, there needs to be a screen, there needs to be a trackpad. The current configuration is the same as many other laptops on the market. Alienware has a strange shape. The original Air had a strange shape.
But functionally, what could change to make the laptops, Windows and Mac, any better? Round the edges, square the corners? Square corners would be more susceptible to damage. The edges are fine and make the machine look crisp. More color options perhaps? The Surface laptop in blue was a really nice color.
Make the notch smaller? It is not that intrusive anyway and I like the larger screen with the notch as opposed to a wide top border to incorporate a camera.
The designs of today have been fairly refined over many years and customer complaints, praises, suggestions, etc. When they have something that works, external changes may not be desirable.

Ok so there is 100% chances it won’t come with WiFi 7 since MacBook Pro doesn’t even have it? How do you want WiFi 7 on this mba? The only possibility is to make a new version of every M4 mac
