I have a Mac mini m1 1TB with 16 GB RAM that I use for torrent & Roon. I use an Apple TV 4K HDR with Infuse Pro. All is connected to a 65” OLED from Glorious Panasonic. It’s glorious. I’ve been using this setup for several years and never had an issue.

I’m not sure if there is gain to upgrading. Maybe my mini is overkill already just for my use-case?

Next would be to change to 10 Gb/s Ethernet and change internet provider for 8 Gb/s but honestly I’m fine today with my 400 Mbit/s potato speed.

The problem is lack of content: all torrent sites are getting shutdown.

might be a dumb question but does anybody know it can drive 2 4k. 240hz display? Currently they are limited to 120hz for two (One can be driven at 240hz)

Yeah, whoever planned out that photo… I don’t know

I’m really not sure somebody would have three studio displays plugged into a mini

I also have no idea why they would have the mini so close to them on the desk.
Are they going to reach out and touch it while it renders?

“Feel the compute”
😅
Yeah, better glue it on the back side of the monitor and then make the photo.

Just to confirm?

The base $599 model can run 3 different displays? Or is the pro needed?

Thinking about replacing a 2017 32inch iMac (would like to replace with another iMac but a 24 inch display won’t work). Any chance I can use the old iMac as a display?

Let's not be too greedy. Would be happy to have just two Pro Display XDRs. We don't need to have the modern equivalent of Al Gore's setup. Still, cost is $4999 x 2 + Pro stand $999 x 2 + AppleCare $499 x 2. About $13,000 + tax. Three would be $19,500 + tax.

Eh, I don't think it's a good replacement for the Apple TV, personally. I want my TV streaming device to be dead-simple with zero fiddling/configuring ever needed by me or otherwise, and I don't want to use my phone as a remote, ever. Kids and wife use the Apple TV more than I do and my youngest daughter doesn't have a phone. Mac mini as a home server sounds pretty good, though.

Back on topic, three screens sounds cool. Never seen such as setup, nor a 6k screen (or even a 5k screen).
I have a triple monitor setup but not at 6K. It's not even needed to be honest and it takes away more resources if you're using after effects or any kind of rendering software since there isn't a dedicated GPU on any logic board Apple uses

Base model can run 3. It’s listed right on the tech specs on apples site. Can run 3 off of the thunderbolt ports or 2 off thunderbolt and 1 off hdmi at once.

No mention of a 5k120 display (doesn't exist yet, but there is obvious talk of this for the Studio Display) - although presumably Thunderbolt 5 can support it no problem.
It is here. Dell U4025QW at least, 5K2K with 120Hz. I do hope it fits well somewhere among those permutations of 60-240Hz and 1-3 displays.

If you have the space (and the mini supports it) consider an 8K monitor. Sounds pretty good for certain folks:

Instantly makes it a better option than any currently shipping Apple TV.

There are some great 3rd party applications that can turn a Mini into both a great media server, as well as a TV / media consumption device with support of using an iPhone for a remote.

One of the main reasons why I am ordering a new Mini. Replace a really old Mini that is doing the dame thing, acts as a home server, and bridges in HomeKit devices that aren't natively supported.

These are so dang versatile!
Roku is a better option than any currently shipping Apple TV.

Good for those who need this. Overall good to see the changes due to M4 Pro chip.
