And that is what happens when you install a security software in a system that doesn't really need one.

Damn Apple acted SUPER FAST on this one!

And there is still doubts to why most of us here choose Apple? Sad that this slipped through and hopefully nobody's sensitive financial, taxation or etc data was stolen.

Yikes! There are tons of malwares the affect iOS, see https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/Malware_for_iOS . It certainly does need security software, just software published by legitimate companies. Carriers are starting to ship antimalware apps with their phones and that is a very good thing (although they are sometimes not free which is a drag, uninstall and get a free one from a well-known vendor).

The vast majority of those require the device to be jailbroken. The remainder use enterprise provisioning. There's no anti-malware available for iOS, so carriers can't be shipping it with new devices. Stop conflating Android and iOS. Besides, this was a macOS app, not an iOS app.

Other than deflecting from the topic, I fail to see how your post is helpful or informative or anything other than a desperate attempt to point the finger of blame towards anyone but Apple. Apple basically hosted malware in the MAS. They let it continue to propagate after the issue was brought to their attention. They only removed it after being publicly shamed.

Your response is to use all caps to point at Google. Seems appropriate. Mac owners must feel a lot better in a misery loves company sort of way.

Another thing to consider is that no one has said that Google curates like Apple is said to do.

LOL. So much for Apple screening process. Apple doesn't really care, as long as they get their 30%.

i just read about a Mac virus this week
Malware is not virus. Just keep you Mac updated and don't install crap.

You can read about Play Store horror everyday. I have friends with a very famous iOS/Mac app, not available for Android. A scammer copied icon and screenshot and uploaded a simple web view app to PlayStore which ask you google login. The approved it and took 2 weeks to remove it after being reported. This is the difference. This kind of news is like a Tesla car accident versus minion of car accident the same day.

No.

Don’t jailbreak your phone. Anti malware apps on iOS are scams.

I'm not exactly sure that taking a month to act is "SUPER FAST".

I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make. The Play Store has as much to do with this as the App Store for iOS. Neither have anything to do with a rogue app in the MAS. Hand waving about Play Store issues doesn't negate or lessen the Adware Doctor issue. If I have a Mac, why would I care what issues are on the Play Store?

Why does it always have to be a server in China?

Yah, it's a bit worrying to me, but it may be painting a picture of what's to come for our younger civilizations. China is thousands of years old, and clearly, in general, they've lost sight of the basic principles of human decency. Or maybe it's a desperation due to their enormous population and limited resources. Either way, large swaths of Chinese "entrepreneurs" just don't care. They just want to get as much return from their venture as they can. I'm no economy expert, that's just my layman's perspective, but we all share that same fear of "Made in China", and now they are infecting our computers. It's worrying.

Maybe Apple needs to post the country that every developer is based out of, clearly on the App Store, so we can make informed decisions before installing, and without a lot of extra research needed.

But how did this app make it through Apple's strict checks? That's my biggest question. Glad they acted quickly. Thanks for that.

Why does the Mac App Store still exist? It only has ****** scam apps and nothing that you actually need.
Off the top of my head...

Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, Pixelmator, Day One, 1Blocker, Textual, Tweetbot

You consider these to be "****** scam apps"? You have odd notions.

As if the states is any better.
The states are much better when it comes to privacy. First of all there's no great firewall, so in the states you can use privacy conscious services (like DuckDuckGo and StartPage) that would be banned in China. Second of all the police state in China in general is much more extreme than anything that has ever been done in America. The authorities in Beijing literally have 100% of the city under 24/7 surveillance, and give all citizens a "social score".

So he told Apple about it for a month and nothing happened until he post this article?

Or it could be Mark Zuckerberg! :) Make it look like China or whoever, but if you follow the trail, it ends with Mark Zuckerberg I bet :). Just as much reason to believe that, wouldn't you say? I mean nobody needs any proof - so pick a theory, any theory.
The server is physically located in China. There's your proof. Keep up the denial though.

"Adware Doctor is also currently the number five top paid app on the entire store in the U.S."

Why would they kill the golden goose? They get paid $1.50 every time someone downloads it, which is pure profit.

Really, they pay nothing for the servers or anything? Just pure profit? sigh.

yeah, I read about ghosts in the mountains just north of me. Doesn't mean they exist in the wild.
