SteerMouse helps to make a LOT more mice compatible with the Mac. ~> http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/19058/steermouse

Seconded.

I've yet to find a mouse with drivers I didn't hate for one reason or another. Steermouse makes just about any mouse work and is far more enjoyable and flexible to configure than anything I've seen from Razer, Logitech, or MadCatz.

Edit: For the record I use a Razer Death Adder (with Steermouse for drivers). I love it.

I just got the Steelseries Sensei Fnatic edition (since I heard it would be Mac compatible, and looks awesome). Great mouse overall, but I was a bit bummed about the lack of drivers / tools to configure the extra buttons, as mentioned above.

I looked around a bit, tried steermouse and usb overdrive, but those didn't detect it, and finally found ControllerMate - a program to remap mouse / keyboard / joystick buttons and program your own actions (make buttons "autofire", and tons of other neat functions for gamers). It identified the mouse and also a "Steelseries Keyboard" on my system (even though I didn't have one). I noticed that the left buttons registered as "MouseButton 4" and "MouseButton 5", but the right ones as "SteelSeries Keyboard PageUp" and "SteelSeries Keyboard PageDown". Anyway, it was easy to hook actions to the button and remap them to keyboard shortcuts, and now I have all buttons on the Sensei working while gaming :) Just tried it with WoW, and all the side buttons are working to trigger actionbar items and such. Couldn't be happier!

Just a tip for anyone looking for a working gaming mouse for Mac. Also, the settings available in the display on the mouse itself are a great way to configure sensitivity and such.

Disclaimer: I'm in no way affiliated with the people producing / selling ControllerMate, just a happy user. The program said it would only work for 20 minutes while unregistered, but I've run it now for 1h+ and it's still remapping my buttons correctly.. I will probably buy it anyway, it's a great program overall, and only $15.

EDIT: Also, to leftCoaster above: I upped the polling rate from 125 to 1000, and I get no lag what so ever. Perfectly smooth :)

Would this work in Sc2? I am trying to map shift B or V to my Logitech Performance Mouse MX but can't seem to find out how. I'd like to assign Shift B to 1 button and Shift V to another.

Probably. Both SteerMouse and ControllerMate can remap buttons to keys, my problem was that SteerMouse didn't recognize the additional buttons on my mouse, but ControllerMate did. Both softwares are available to download for free (but will only work for a limited amount of time), so give them a try and see.

SteerMouse is $20 and is quite simple (not that many options, but easy to use). ControllerMate is $15 and a bit more advanced (more options / functions, but harder to configure).

I will have to try that out. I read somewhere that the mapping didn't actually carry over to SC2 on OSX.

I have the Razer Orochi, and it's working perfectly. The buttons are mapped how I want them - the two on the left side are for mission control and showing desktop, and the two on the right for sensitivity adjustments - and I believe I just used the Razer drivers for it. Are you using the latest drivers for your mouse?

The size of the Orochi doesn't bug me at all, it's actually quite comfortable. For a full-sized bluetooth mouse, why not try the Razer Mamba? Another hybrid bluetooth + USB mouse, like the Orochi. I would've got that one, but I kind of wanted more portability, and the Orochi was on sale. :D

I have a Razer Orochi mouse and I'm on osx lion mountain with drivers for mac 2.0 , but I can not configure the buttons on the left for the mission control and show the desktop, teach me how you did for work. Thank you.

I am using Logitech G700 and since Logitech released the Mac Drivers OMG Awesomeeeee I havent need to use any third party software any more :)

Yes, Logitech just added official MacOSX support for their gaming mice and keyboards. This was just a month ago in April 2013. Their website (link below) lists the supported products.

Now, an extra kick in the pants is all we need to get Logitech also releasing OSX drivers for their racing wheels.

I want a gaming trackball... My MS Trackball Explorer is just about dead. Another one all ready died. That leaves me with only one more (Trackball Explorer). :p

I read this and dowloaded latest driver. It is an improvement - now I can keybind 2 of the side buttons (6+7), but the rest of buttons bring me to launchpad or do nothing at all....

Old thread, but you'll need the 2013 Orochi version to get those extra buttons working; Better Touch Tool is a great way to program those buttons. Plus it makes a great gaming mouse when you use the USB cable.
