God forbid they get around to getting Back To My Mac to work.

Sounds like a great idea though. I love .Mac, when it works.

Hey, get in line! Decent transfer speeds to the iDisk on the Mac. It's pretty effing embarrassing that when I access my iDisk at work on a Windows machine, it works pretty damn well, but on my Mac at home with a good cable connection, it's a dog.

And I hope they don't go with the easy solution: throttle the transfer to Windows boxes so the Mac users don't feel so bad. ;)

I've always liked the idea of a social networking site for mac users. There is one out there that u had a look at but after looking around for a few days no one seemed to post anything. It was that good I don't even remember its name. Lol.
Imagine you needed a bit if help with your website or were having trouble with GarageBand. U could see who was online in these particular forums and screen share with iChat
hell I do this with my mum all the time.

I am glad Apple seem to be adding more value to .Mac.

Over the air Podcast synching would really rock. They do it for music, so Podcasts should be doable.

I would really like the basic account to have 2 true user ids instead of the existing one. I dont need more space. I dont need five, so the family version isn't worth it to me but I want more than one.

Get back-to-my Mac working please. Allow me to also do this from my ipod touch / iphone

Push email is something which I know a lot of people want, but for me, I don't need to be reminded to work perpetually. There is a reason they call it Crackberry... With that said, this is a good feature for Apple to add.

I am excited about the Calendar and Addressbook sync. I use my phone to remind me of events and if a day or three go buy without syncing my phone to my laptop, it causes headaches.

I worry it will be email only push given the state of the SDK. Fingers crossed it will be wireless sync of everything.

Either way, this really adds to the value of .Mac.

I agree. Anyone tethered to their phone to that degree (in most cases) is a minion. But as an AAPL stockholder I love that push will be available.

I think the $99 should cover a family of 4 and have an optional bump up in space.

I also would like to see more organization features for the Web Gallery... Instead of guests having to wade through 50 albums some inaccessible, it would be nice to have collections of albums with their own optional password protection.

I also agree with earlier posters on allowing more than one user to update the same calendar.

While we are tossing out suggestions how about .Mac as an actual community?

As a .Mac member, why can't I somehow interact socially with all the other .Mac members? Why not put in some social web like components? If I am looking for a good designer, and I knew that a .Mac member who was a designer also lived in my city, I would prefer to hire them. Currently, I have no way to know if they are or not. If this *is* possible, it's not exactly front and centre.

The reason I come to this web forum is primarily because it's a community of like-minded, somewhat intelligent, mostly progressive mac users. No offence to arn, but this exact kind of forum, hosted by .Mac with access only to .Mac members would blow this site out of the water! There is so much untapped potential in .Mac that way, it could be the 1337 of all Mac web sites and users, and it just isn't. At all. :(

MS Zune might be a joke, but they did get one thing right, and that's "the social." MS is distinctly ahead of Apple in that regard. The whole sharing and linking up with other people is something that Apple still hasn't really "got" yet IMO. I don't think it's even on the radar, which is a flaw that competitors could exploit (if there were any worthy competitors out there).

Social networking is the biggest web-related story in the last five years, but Apple is doing absolutely nothing in this area. I'd rather hook up with people on .Mac than get on FaceBook and have every old high-school idiot I ever knew try to "friend" me. I have nothing in common with those people.

Probably this hasn't occurred to them because "the Steve" is such an antisocial loner to begin with. :p

"Amen" !

Only Quark is more anti social than Apple LOL. With iTunes and the burgeoning media empire that Apple is becoming should be obliterating Myspace. But sadly Apple is their father's child (Jobs) and reclusive they shall stay.

This is my first post to MacRumors, and as an avid Apple user I cannot express how excited I am for more updates at WWDC. I have been using .Mac now and would love to have more services tied to it. It doesn't seem right that I can get a free Yahoo! account that will push email, but my .Mac won't.

please up the file size limit

i would like to be able to upload huge files. anything file size over 1gb and .mac craps out.

Please make .Mac usable for creating photo galleries for those of us who don't want to drink the iPhoto/iWeb Kool-Aid.

Copying my Lightroom web galleries to iDisk is painfully slow, even when copying using WebDAV in CyberDuck (heh, forget using Finder). How about giving us full speed ftp access.

I just ordered a family pack renewal...with great reluctance.

I guess Apple can see people giving up desktop/laptop computers in the near future for platforms like iPhone.

So improve sync with windows, so people who can use those machines less and less to the point they just don't use them at all. Same for Macs as well but this way Apple keeps them as customers this way.

Still one missing feature i'd like to see, well other than calendar improvements.
Mail Filtering on the server side. If that happens I might think of using push mail as it will be push on my terms not anyone who wants to send me mails terms.

Sounds great to me. I know there are a lot of things Apple could be doing with .Mac, but I think there will be some real big improvements in the near future with cloud computing and all of that coming.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO excited to get my iPhone 2.0 :D

".mac sync with windows"

Meh! I wonder what would be the percentage of people that have/want an iPhone and use a Windows PC and would be interested in purchasing .mac.

I need to use a stupid windows PC at work so this would very handy indeed.

Joshua.

Oh my gosh! .Mac is down just like the Apple Online Store prior to new products! That can only mean one thing...it is .Mac Update (early) Saturday (morning)!!!

Yes, all the .mac rumours will come true one service is restored!;)

I know, I know really need my sleep. All kidding aside I do hope .Mac services/features are expanded.

Much to my dismay, it's been down for a few hours, hell I've had time to backup my data and do a clean reinstall of Leopard on my Macbook (and did) in the time it's been down which is quite annoying because I have too many software updates to download now (day one 10.5.0 installation of course) and would like to sign into iChat, damn this couldn't come at a more inconvenient time. T_T;

Apple Social Networking is coming...

While we are tossing out suggestions how about .Mac as an actual community?

Watch the D Conference interview with Jobs and Gates from last summer. Steve specifically says that Apple is looking into social networking. He also says that he thinks powerful client apps with cloud services are the future of the internet (ala Google Maps on the iPhone/iTunes).

If .Mac doesn't become a social networking landscape, then iTunes 8 probably will. iTunes would also fit into his idea of powerful client apps, and it has a much (MUCH MUCH MUCH) larger base to work from.

How wrong you are, young padawan...

Too bad it's back up with no change...

Of course it is, people here can't be bothered with anything getting in the way of their $4 a day Starbucks habit.

.Mac at $3.x bucks a day certainly isn't commensurate with the value of a Latte a day. ;)
I make my coffee at home, so I spend about $10 every couple weeks. :)

I have the family pack. For what it is it is overpriced, and performance is lackluster. Takes forever to upload photo galleries I create with Adobe Lightroom, and viewing speed isn't great either.

With rumors of improvements I'm going to give it another year. At least I found a renewal on Amazon for $130 instead of the $180+ Apple wants for it.

I hear you man. I don't the work coffee and spice it up as best I can. I barely have a $4 a day lunch budget let alone coffee. When I get .Mac it'll be through Amazon. I think .Mac should be $59 annually (single) $99 Family. I don't expect any other perks than everything working as it should. Being able to sync some data with a PC is going to be good as well. Eventually I may have a setup where I've got my iCal kept in sync via .Mac and BusySync (for Google Calendar). Even though eventually an iphone may make GC redundant since I'd have it with me all the time.
