    Hey

I currently have 2GB of ram installed in my 1.83ghz intel core 2 duo mac mini, now i know if i install 4GB it will only use 3GB, but will i really see and improvement with an extra 1GB? Last question, does this mac mini run its ram duel channel? so what i am getting at is that will 2gb of ram be faster if its dual channeled instead of an odd 3GB?

If you don't understand that i am sorry, if not tell me and i will try to explain my questions better :D

    Cheers!!

What are you doing with the Mac Mini? Of course adding ram will make a difference, and the price is prices right now are decent. They are easy to take apart and install. Did it on one of mine.

    Go with the 4 gig's.

I am pretty sure that it's 2007, i am using it for general web browsing, word processing, consuming media like youtube etc. Nothing too hardware intensive

yeah i was looking at ram prices and can't believe how much they have fallen, might chuck in an ssd while i am it :D

LESS beachballing. Used about 3.1 gb of the 4gb. in truth 1gb and 2gb total of 3gb setups work almost as well as 4gb.

I upgraded 30 or 40 2007 -2008 mac minis. If you can go to 1gb and 2gb= 3gb a lot cheaper then 2gb and 2gb = 4gb that is okay. the edge of 3gb over 2gb was big the edge of 4gb over 3gb was very small. I did find the kingston sticks I linked seem to be the fastest of any ram upgrade I did around 20 minis with them.

    Ahh i see,

that's brilliant, cheers for the help on that, unsure what to do now, cause i can just buy a 2GB stick and have 3GB or do i go for a little tiny bit more of an increase?

Max it out if you can afford it. I bought the 2011 mini with 2 GBs and maxed it to 8 for about 40 USD. The difference is night and day.
