Well, I could put my yeti microphone to it but it's USB 2 so well...not a good choice considering fact of T2 firmware bug still not fixed several months after release

How can the 3.5 mm EarPods be connected to a Mac Mini for both audio output and mic input?

I was hoping that there might exist a USB-A adapter that takes both input/output on one 3.5 mm connection?

Just plug them in. The jack supports earphones with mic.

I don't think that Mac Minis have ever had a microphone.
Not part of the "design paradigm".

An inexpensive USB mic would serve basic needs...

You don't even need a USB mic, a regular mic with the right cable or a headset will work just fine with the mini-jack connection.

I like that it has no microphone. I already have enough electronic devices with mikes that could potentially be used without my knowledge to hear me fart.
