??? Why not lolNo it's not. You can't turn this on with one hand.

I came across some concept arts of the Mac Mini. Do you guys think these would be good designs for the Mac Mini? I particularly like the idea of colored Mac Minis.

The first picture seems to be drawn in vector software such as Illustrator. The second picture is a 3D render. I don't think it's AI generated.Does this count as „Concept Art“ if it is AI generated?
Not to be rude, but in this day and age, if I was a designer, I’d make damn sure that there are no inconsistencies between different images this jarring.
Here though, not only does the power plug from the second image not fit to the socket from the first, the power button switches sides and the number of Thunderbolt ports changes, too. So does the shape of the Ethernet port and the overall size and placement of all ports for that matter. Also the shape of the chassis itself is much more rounded in the first picture, while it is more square like new MacBooks in the second.
Stop the slob
Because it's very light. Pushing a physical button would require you moving the unit rather than pressing the button. Hence you need to hold the unit and press the button with two hands or stretch your hand to do both at the same time.??? Why not lol
sigh... no it's not dumb, no it's not where it should be. It's a functional, rational and cosmetic choice.Yes. The dumbest thing about the Mac Mini is that the power button isn't on the front like it should be.
It is dumb, and I question the functionality of it when you basically have to lift up the comptuer to find the power button. I don't know how that could be considered functionalsigh... no it's not dumb,
This is the exact same placement as the previous design of the Mac minis, and it was never an issue. Those aren't really that heavy still either.Because it's very light. Pushing a physical button would require you moving the unit rather than pressing the button. Hence you need to hold the unit and press the button with two hands or stretch your hand to do both at the same time.
also the button needs to be somewhere that hinders accidental touches when you are inserting any cable on the back.
The current location of the power button on the Mac Mini is right, but could benefit from being a bit more accessible
Because of the weight. It is dumb, and I question the functionality of it when you basically have to lift up the comptuer to find the power button. I don't know how that could be considered functional
The power button for the studio, is not idea, but its so much better then the mini, why not do the same thing?
I said it's both functional and cosmetic. Of course there is a cosmetic aspect of keeping it all clean. This is the exact same placement as the previous design of the Mac minis, and it was never an issue. Those aren't really that heavy still either.
Do you think you would have trouble pushing 2.6lbs across the table with your finger?I said it's both functional and cosmetic. Of course there is a cosmetic aspect of keeping it all clean.
Also the previous version almost weighed 1.75x of the current gen.
2.6lbs vs 1.5lbs
Do you think they chose this location beucase it was just an impulse idea of one engineer/designer and they shipped it?Do you think you would have trouble pushing 2.6lbs across the table with your finger?
I'm not sure what is being misconstrued here but I literally have no issues with where the button is at 🤣. You're the one that said this fake non-existent Mac is too light to have the power button on the back.Do you think they chose this location beucase it was just an impulse idea of one engineer/designer and they shipped it?
Do you think Apple does not test, validate and iterate the design with every change they are doing?
I'm talking about the discussion we are having that you believe the current mini has it in the wrong place - and I object.I'm not sure what is being misconstrued here but I literally have no issues with where the button is at 🤣. yesDoes this count as „Concept Art“ if it is AI generated?
...........
I've literally never said anything about the button being in the wrong place on the new one, I have no issue with it. I'm just saying I also didn't have an issue with the button on the back like the old ones, I've never had problems with either.I'm talking about the discussion we are having that you believe the current mini has it in the wrong place - and I object.
This concept has it in the right place from your perspective and I detest.
Continue?
Agreed. I have no idea how that can be considered functional. It is dumb, and I question the functionality of it when you basically have to lift up the comptuer to find the power button. I don't know how that could be considered functional

How often do you use the power button on your Mac mini?Agreed. I have no idea how that can be considered functional.
Occasionally, but I don't see how it is relevant. Having to lift up your computer to reach the bottom of it, no matter how often, never felt right. How often do you use the power button on your Mac mini?
I'm old school shutting down every night so still doing the 👉 ⏻, but I do have it up on a coffee jar lid which helps:I'm just suprised all of you are using the power button on your Mac mini that often 🤣
Just seems like such a non-issue to me, sorry to hear that it's affecting your experience igOccasionally, but I don't see how it is relevant. Having to lift up your computer to reach the bottom of it, no matter how often, never felt right.
