Hi guys,

I'm so happy about finding this thread. I have a MacBookPro with M1 and have a similar problem. My Mac is working fine. But when I shutdown the Mac in the evening and restart it a the next morning I only get the beachball. So, I have to hard reset the Mac, then restart, then shutdown by command and reboot again. After that it is working for a day.
And, I also have LG monitors. I have two LG monitors and on both monitors I have the same issue. But I do not use a external keyboard.
Both of my monitors are using 60 Hz (sorry, I do not have a monitor from different manufacturer, so I cannot check this).
I also have the above setting NOT set in the preferences, I now enabled it.
One more aspect - I also use Splashdot, I read one of you guys also use it. Might this be the software which is playing a role in this issue?
I will be back to report my experiences with setting this preferences parameter.
Sounds like that's a different issue, than what many of us were experiencing. Maybe remove Splashdot, and see how it goes from there?

I'm assuming you meant to type Splashtop, not Splashdot (developer's website here). And I agree with @polaris20 above that your issue sounds quite different.

@usagora, you're right I mean Splashtop.
But I removed Splashtop and it did NOT solve the issue. I was able to reproduce the issue with connection the MacBook again to a LG Monitor without having Splashtop installed.
So, I'm not totally agree with both. I think using a LG Monitor is one puzzle piece that leads to the problems occurring.

What kind of cable do you use for connecting to the monitor?
I use a native thunderbold 3 cable (usb-c) and for the other an old Thunderbold 2 with adapter.
I have the problem with both monitors. I will buy a HDMI cable and try if the problem existis.

My LG display is connected directly to my Mac Mini via HDMI.

As is mine.

I would suggest to the gentleman having issues to reduce the variables; if it's a laptop, run it just by itself for awhile, to see if it's stable. Run the hardware test built into the machine as well. Then, slowly add things back. It's tedious, but definitely worthwhile, as I found.

Reconnected the LG via HDMI; note that this time the Mac immediately set it to "scaled", via the 60Hz refresh. So far, so good. The Mac has been up for two weeks now, no crashing.

Must be the keyboard then!

Some new facts. I updated the firmware of my monitor to the latest version and I connected the laptop with an HDMI cable. Since then I have not been able to reproduce the problem. I will probably test again next week using USB-C.

I'm experiencing the same problem. As soon as I turn off my external LG monitor (27un880) my M2 macbook pro crashes completely, kernel panic. It's simply a mess to work like this, if I go 10 minutes away from my desk and my display goes to sleep, all of my work is gone due to the crashes.

My Intel macbook works fine with my external monitor.

The firmware of the monitor has no update available.

Did anyone find a solution for this?
