    Hey Guys,

Just ordered a new Mac mini and just curious, I read that you can easily connect your mac mini to a Television via a HDMI cable. Is that cable only functioning on a Video level or does it also transfer audio?

So really, If i have my Mac mini connected to HD Samsung LCD TV will all auio play out of my TV's speaker system?

    Thanks for the help.

HDMI standard includes Full 1080p video and High Definition Audio. Basically if it supports HDMI. Both Audio and Video can be transfered throught the same cable. The only time HDMI does not carry the audio is with DVI to HDMi adapters or actualy enabling a nother output device. The latter is not applicable for the Mac Mini as it only has analog and HDMI. The only reason why you would want to chose another audio output is if you had an older Hometheater unit that only did optical or coaxil inputs for surround sound.

For example a blu-ray player can have audio going to the coaxl out of an older reciever while the HDMI outputs the HD video to the TV. HDMI will not be carrying the audio in this senario. HDMI to DVI adpters loose the audio because DVI is a display only input. So if you were to use the HDMI port as a secondary DVI port for a secondary monitor using a DVI adapter, no sound would be going though hdmi.
