PCs and Macs are both tools. In the end, they're both just computers.

And yet you've named them.

The boot HDD on my G4 is named id and the icon is the one ring from LOTR.
The 2nd HDD on my G4 is named kazum (musak spelled backwards; it's where I keep my itunes and imovie libraries) and the icon is marvin the martian (just the head)

And my Dell notebook that I gave away, the C: drive was called phuhqers.

So yeah, I name things too. :D

"Hi, I'm a Mac"
"and I'm a PC"
"and I'm a PC too." :D

I do have a 'conventional' PC (Athlon homebuild) as well as my MBP but it got so slow when I connected got the net - all that antivirus/firewalling stuff really takes it out of the computer i guess.

Hang on, that was when i got my MBP, so maybe my computer just seems slow compared to this lightning fast lappy.

I use both. PCs and Macs are both tools. When I need to accomplish a specific task and the PC is better suited towards that task, I'll use my PC. Same goes for my Mac. In the end, they're both just computers.

I don't use a PC atm (just two Macs), but I totally agree with you, if I was to get another computer it'd probably be a PC for gaming...

The whole Mac vs. PC argument is really really old, Mac's are better for some people, Windows for others.

i own both but primarly use my powerbook; my dad is the primary user for my PC
Exactly the same as me! Although, as soon as I got my PB I no longer used my PC (and my father started using it) and when I got married I gave it to my father (he's currently looking to get a 24" iMac). Unfortunately, when I got married my wife's PC came along with her. Although, she's currently looking to get a MacBook. :D

Both.

I just got a refurb macbook a little over a week ago. I honestly never thought I'd say this, but I have officially converted and have no intention of switching back. Besides, my copy of Parallels will always be there if I need a Windows booty call. :)

I own Mac, but I *use* both a Mac and a PC since I also have an IBM ThinkPad from work. I think so many people use a PC at work that the poll shouldn't have been worded "own or use".

When my own hard-earned money is on the line, I will currently only consider a Mac. I was foolish and bought an HP earlier this year (sold it a couple months later), and I won't make that mistake again. It would take a LOT to convince me to try a Windows machine again...

I own my iMac (ownage) and a 2.4 GHz P4 PC. I use this computer all the time now.

Both ...

iMac Core Duo 17" (3 months old)
PB 1.33 17" (two and a half years old)
Generic P4 2.4GHz Win XP (3 years old)
Toshiba Tecra Pentium M 1.4 Win XP (3+ years old)
HP Omnibook PIII 500 Win XP (6 years old)
Gateway PIII 600 Win XP (6+ years old)
Generic PII 233MHz Win 2000 (9ish years old)

I prefer the Macs because for day to day work using Office I find OS X easier to use than Windows.

Apart from the Gateway I have found all the hardware to be reliable.

I own a custom built Pc.. I Hate it!!

I own a Blueberry iMac G3 500mhz... This is my work horse. Use it for everything.

The 1.6ghz PC only gets used for Work... or by my husband who hasn't "switched" yet.

Let's see... we have three Mac laptops, one of which is on loan to my brother. I have to support XP at home because my wife's sewing software is Windows only, and at the time we bought her laptop the Intel Macs were just a gleam in Jobs' eye. :) Then we've got the big ol' Dell desktop machine that's now running Fedora Core 5 Linux, and is basically a file server for the family. It used to run Windows, but XP's file sharing and remote management options aren't particularly flexible. I'd love to replace that someday with an iMac, and make that our media box (for running Aperture, iMovie and/or Final Cut Express, plus maybe streaming to a television with iTV).

I'd just as soon write off the Windows side completely; but for both sides of my job I know I'll have to deal with it for the forseeable future.

My old 1st gen iMac gets used when my main PC is "poorly", buts its almost obsolete now.

If and when Apple release a normal proper affodable upgradable Mac i'll return, untill then im quite happy with my self build PC.

Hm.
Currently have both! sitting on my desk in my dorm.
Typing this on a 1.5 Ghz Powerbook G4 with a gig of RAM. It's a nice little workhorse though hopefully i'll upgrade in a year or two. Currently do most of my work on it because I like Pages for word processing and just enjoy it more.

Then i have a 1.8 Ghz Sempron in a Shuttle SFF box. Gig of RAM and a bunch of storage all running Ubuntu/Win2k dual boot. Use it mostly for media consumption and storage.

I like the combo, but i'd much prefer having a mac pro instead of the shuttle

I feel like the PC can be useful in many ways that the mac just simply cant do...

I don't mean to be argumentative, but I would honestly like to hear what those ways are. (I realize some people on this forum are likely to respond in an argumentative way, though)

I was a Windows user for a long, long time - and other than playing Windows-only games I can't see what it is you can't do on a Mac. In fact, since I work in a heterogeneous computing environment (Windows, Linux, some Mac) I find the Mac is MUCH more flexible than my old PC ever was.

Mac for serious things like Email, business, photo's. I use my Dell for gaming,TV, Net. Hardware wise there is no difference except Apple plays to many games with its hardware lines, In the Pc world you can get a machine made just as you want it. Thats a gigantic plus in my book, though OSX is nicer I can live without it.

I'm a both too

A 20in iMac G5 (need to update sig) sat next to a 20in apple display hooked up to my gaming PC running windows :D

Having said that, i really dislike windows... really really dislike windows, but it's a means to my games os there it stays. My iMac (and other macs) get used for anything important, works out great.

Oh, and i have an Acer PC laptop running Ubuntu Linux which is used for browsing in places other than my desk since my powerbook went narcoleptic on me

I've had a setup something like this since my PC had a 350Mhz CPU and a massive 128Mb ram, before that i was mac only, and before that it was Atari.

So, for me Apples are tools, PCs are toys :)

I use both in various configurations for developing and testing web applications... 2 Macs (iMac and MacBook Pro) and 3 Windows PCs (2 AMD towers and an ancient Dell laptop).

I only recently invested in the Macs and there's no turning back for me now. The MB Pro in particular is the finest piece of hardware I've ever had the privilege to own!

But I'm not a Windows basher either... I still run Parallels and Boot Camp on the Macs. For just about everyone I know, Windows is so familiar, so ubiquitous. It's what they use at work and they don't want to learn something different to use at home. A shame, in my opinion, as I think many of them would really benefit from the superior interface and increased productivity under OS X. I've been won over, and I'm looking forward to converting a few friends and clients who I know will appreciate the features of OS X.

I use a Macbook for as much as I can (programming, word processing, and various hijinks), and multiple PCs for work and school and software testing, but some of them run Linux as well.
