It's never been tried AFAIK. Why don't you give it a try and report your findings? If it is possible on the Lombard why not the pismo
OS 9 does "run" on all the G4 Powerbooks/iBooks, some better than others.we'd have OS 9 running on every PowerBook G4, including all of the aluminium ones.
8.x is PPC. 8.0 and 8.1 are universal for PPC and 68k. The Power Macintosh G3s shipped with 8.0 and even the iMac shipped with 8.1 for awhile. Not possible as 8.1 is 68k, I believe - OS 8 was 68k.. until 8.5/8.6 where it was PPC. Nevertheless, not possible to run 8.1 without serious modification for it to work on a Pismo.. that’s like getting 8.6 to run on a titanium 1Ghz.. not possible nor worth the effort.. sheepshaver is the best way.
That maybe, but my Titanium is the 1Ghz model, so how can I install 8.0/8.1 let alone, 8.6 on it ?8.x is PPC. 8.0 and 8.1 are universal for PPC and 68k. The Power Macintosh G3s shipped with 8.0 and even the iMac shipped with 8.1 for awhile.

Because it's too new to run those OSes and I don't believe the same thing has ever been done for OS 8 as has been done for OS 9. I don't know if it could be done, all I know is that it hasn't been done. I'd estimate it couldn't however, given the under-the-hood differences between OS 8 and OS 9.That maybe, but my Titanium is the 1Ghz model, so how can I install 8.0/8.1 let alone, 8.6 on it ?
Exactly dude ! Oh, good to see you again 😀😀😀Because it's too new to run those OSes and I don't believe the same thing has ever been done for OS 8 as has been done for OS 9. OS 9 is a little more generic support than OS 8, it likely could be done, but the amount of work it would take, I highly doubt anyone would take it on, given that most software that runs under OS 8.x will also run under OS 9.Because it's too new to run those OSes and I don't believe the same thing has ever been done for OS 8 as has been done for OS 9. Yeah, that's sorta what I was getting at. On the newer end that's the case and, on the older end of things, anything that OS 8 can run that OS 9 can't is generally able to be run on System 7.OS 9 is a little more generic support than OS 8, it likely could be done, but the amount of work it would take, I highly doubt anyone would take it on, given that most software that runs under OS 8.x will also run under OS 9.
