Hi all,

My 2011 MacBook Pro is having an update issue. It's running 10.12 and in my app store app it shows I have 7 updates. When I click the tab it doesn't show any update button or which apps need updates. I tried reseting nvram and nothing changed. The hardware has not been changed either. Its running a 240GB SSD and 16gb ram.

I'm guessing that the MAS is pretty slammed, with updates to the iWork apps, GB, FCP/Motion. My Updates page is blank. I'm updating my apps via the Purchases section of the MAS, with the relevant app updates showing "Update" and the DLs working as expected.

I am having the exact same problem as Ih8reno with my mid-2012 MacBook Pro running MacOS Sierra 10.12...

The app store badge says I have 7 updates, but all my screen shows are the 2 latest updates in the last 30 days. (See first photo.)

I also tried what campy guy recommended (looking under "Purchase" Section to possibly update from there... and Sierra doesn't even SHOW UP there?!! (See second photo) WTW??! I can assure you I am running Sierra! (see 3rd photo!)

My Mac is also acting sluggish and glitchy and I'm seeing way too much of the spinning beach ball. I'd really like to get Sierra 10.12.1, hoping it will help these issues.

Any advice very welcome! THANK YOU!

I managed to go to the purchased tab and found that apps were able to be updated through there luckily...still odd behaviour

Well, I managed to download Sierra 10.12.1 from this link:
https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1897?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
(found here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/10-12-1-now-available-in-mas.2008926/)

Unfortunately, the update did NOT resolve my APP STORE issue, though... badge still showing 7 updates but no way (that I can find!) to get to them.

Whatta pain!

I was starting to just get really PO'd about this, then I thought I'd check in here... Glad it isn't just me.

Yes, I totally agree! Although it is still such a pain!

I sure hope this problem gets sorted out or someone here can figure out a fix.

I had the same issue with the Mac App Store not showing which apps had updates. I updated anyway, and these were the apps that updated for me:

iTunes
Xcode
GarageBand
iMovie
Numbers
Pages
Keynote

I have an UPDATE...

I looked more closely at "Purchased" in the App Store (Thanks @campyguy) and like verdi1987 above, I had 6 apps that I was able to update (one at a time... laboriously...!) I missed them the first time I looked... saw Sierra wasn't there and didn't look down farther. MY BAD! :::red faced!:::

But NOW I have a new issue!
My Apps badge still shows one app that needs updated (see first photo below). BUT I returned that app months ago when it didn't do what I needed, and got a refund for it. As you can see, it doesn't show up in my library of apps from iTunes (2nd photo).

I don't know WHAT to do about that?! Screen Shot 2016-10-27 at 8.10.29 PM.pngScreen Shot 2016-10-27 at 8.11.26 PM.png
[doublepost=1477614231][/doublepost]And when I tried to update the stupid app that I no longer own (just to see what would happen) I get this:
NO KIDDING!!! o_O

My 2011 iMac is having the same issue as other users above. Hopefully it resolves soon, I can manually update (Thanks verdi1987!)

Tried to reset via terminal sudo softwareupdate --clear-catalog and am still having the issue.
[doublepost=1477616167][/doublepost]New update. I did the 6 manually, then the itunes update appeared when I when to the update page

I have the same problem as above and fixed it by updating a few of them from Purchased until the rest showed up in Updates. Thanks!

Hey thanks skirmisser! I followed your advice and updated Keynote, Pages, and Numbers from the Purchased window, and that cleared things up. Now the Updates window is populating normally again. :)

Another funny thing is that the apps in Launchpad are messed up. The standard macOS apps (Safari, Mail etc) for some reason moved to the last page in Launchpad. Very weird. I didn't change anything in the order.

OK, I called Apple Care and I am such a dolt!

The phantom app (Screenshot Plus that I bought -- but returned -- mentioned in post #8 above)... the App store kept saying it needed updated but then it couldn't update because I no longer own it. I just went round and round like that and I couldn't get rid of the update badge notification OR the app (I no longer own!) showing up under Updates.

The app did not show up in my iTunes App Library. It was not in the trash. I was stymied.

So I called Apple Care... and within 30 seconds she had me check FINDER... and dang if that app wasn't still showing up there! How and why I still am not sure. But we put it in the Trash and then emptied the Trash, and the update badge in the App store went away and it looks like everything is good to go again.

(((Well... as good as it has been with apps having to be updated manually through PURCHASED ITEMS! Which is what this thread was originally all about! OY!)))

Updates not showing was a Mac App Store bug that has been fixed now, it wasn't because of your computer ^^
