Why is it that a friend of mine ordered his copy of Panther at exactly the same time as me, to exactly the same address, and his order gets fulfilled last night?

I feel highly aggrieved that Apple has shunned my long-standing commitment to them when he only switched two weeks ago.

I'm trying not to hurt him. Really. Really. Trying. :)

wow! some people feel already agressed if panther comes 1 day too late...tss... i ordered a g5 on july 8th and it arrived 2 weeks ago. so calm down a little bit ;)

i'm now wise enough to not be too anxious about delivering dates.

btw: i ordered my up-to-date panther frrom the swiss apple store on october 9th and look my order status:

I have been unable to check the order status at the apple store for the past 9 hours or so. It just times out and says there is an error no matter what browser I use. Anyone else not able to check their order status?

I don't know if that's the reason, but the Apple Store here in the UK is down...

Updates anyone?

eMac, iBook or xServeG5??

East Coast Shipping Notification - Yup

I woke up to see a nice email from Apple saying the shipment is going out.
Not in the Fedex system yet, but who's to complain.

Friday looks very real.

Yipeekaiyeah!

The Guy said for the Jaguar Release @ the Store, the line went all the way down past the cheesecake factory.... Now for those who have been to the Galleria, knows that is a very long line.

Well (unfortunately) the people traffic will probably be split between Cambridgeside and Chestnut Hill since CH wasn't open when Jag was released. But it still probably means very few goodies by the time I get there (CH). Bummer.

Order status works again. I ordered Panther on the 15th with regular shipping. On Monday, it said it would ship 2 day. Now, it says Standard Overnite. I guess Apple decided they couldn't ship them all out today so some got put off till tomorrow with faster shipping...

P.S. Its an .edu Panther...

Not sure if anyone has posted something similar, but I'm not going to read through 8 pages to find out :)

Just wanted to let everyone know that the up-to-date version of Panther that I ordered using my 15" Aluminum Powerbook serial number has shipped. Got a tracking number and all.

Unless it happens to come before Friday, I won't be able to try it until Monday. I'll be in Key West @ Fantasy Fest on the day Panther is being released. I'll be too drunk to use it anyway :p

I received a shipment notice too ... for a Panther upgrade copy for my 1.25 15" PB, which was ordered back on September 16th. (And yes, I gave Apple the correct date when I requested the up-to-date upgrade.)

W00t!

Have not shipped yet, but on Monday I got upgraded to 2-day from standard free, and today it is listed as standard overnight.

What's next?

Shipping method: Driven to my house by an Apple intern?

Just kidding, can't wait.

Mine is still open. Yesterday, it got moved from standard free shipping to two-day shipping, and today it got moved to overnight shipping.

The only problem is that I fear my iBook is starting to have logic board issues. I might not be able to use Panther until I get my iBook back if the problem recurs. :(

Mine is at "Shipped" now too. Order status page gives the FedEx tracking number, but FedEx isn't recognizing it yet. If they are shipping from the Minnesota distribution center, I may have tomorrow, even ground is one day from there. Not getting my hopes up though. My order is edu btw.

I think it has changed actually... I remember them specifically telling a teacher in the Apple Store last year that she could get her ibook there, but that her Office and reduced Keynote had to come from the online store.

But then, less than a month ago, my mom was desperate and went there, ready to pay full price, and they just photocopied her faculty ID and gave her the software for the EDU price.

They've either changed the rules, or they are inconsistant in how they enforce them.

Both of these examples were from the same Apple Store.

I've bought hardware through the International Apple Store and they did the same with my USF ID, so I dunno why they wouldn't do it for software, but it seems they are inconsistent...

I got my shipping notice. I probably will have it tomorrow since I normally get things in one day when Apple ships stuff from Sacramento even when using standard shipping.

My shipping status still says open (I ordered and educational copy of Panther yesterday) but my shipping was changed from standard free 5-day to "standard overnight."

What does "open" mean?

And is it just me or is 10/24/03 taking forever to get here?

From Apple Store:
What does my order status message mean?

* Order Received: Your order has been received but has not begun processing. In most cases, Apple can begin processing your order in approximately 45 minutes from the time you place your order on-line and may take longer depending on large quantity orders or method of payment.

* Open: Your order or order line has begun processing but has not yet shipped. Once your order is “open,” Apple will provide you the estimated dates that your products will ship from its distribution sites.

* Partially Shipped: Part of your order or order line has shipped from Apple’s warehouse(s) and is in transit to your designated shipping address on the selected carrier.

* Shipped: All items on your order or order line have shipped from Apple’s warehouse(s).

* Electronically Delivered: Your electronic software product(s) or activation key has been issued to you.

* Completed: Your order containing electronic software products, .Mac or iPhoto products has been processed completely or shipped.

* Cancelled: All items on your order or order line have been cancelled.

* Action Required: Your order has been received but it cannot be processed due to incomplete payment or lack of other important information. Once you have provided this information, Apple can continue processing your order and will provide you with the estimated dates your products will ship from its distribution sites.
