If it indeed has been seeded; has anybody that got it found any interesting references in the update pointing to specific hardware changes in the upcoming MBP revisions? Like SR, LED Backlit displays, new GPU, etc...?

Ok please be nice because I don't know about OS development... Is this going to add work that won't benefit the Leopard project, or will Leopard be built ontop of all this and see the benefits as well??? Can someone tell me how that works please? Thanks ;)

Well that seem's legit...
 
I'm not too surprised, being a long time since .9 and Leopard.
As of 10.4.10 (if so called) I'm looking forward to a fix of my audio in my MBP. Seems to be somewhat of a glitch, and when I restart Core Audio the system's sound gets louder.
And sometimes the System Sounds dissapear - until I restart the Core Audio Service on the Activity Monitor.
Anyways, was gonna keep on posting but...
G2G gf is calling... :D

Sure seems like their asking people to concentrate on a lot! Doesn't look too be a small update but only time will tell! I love the way apple keeps working on making a Great OS even better even though Leopard is just right around the corner. WTG Apple! :)
 
yes, but there has never been a 10.x.10. so... it has some weight to expect a .9 release to be followed by a .0

There will probly be support for newer graphics GPUs we are about to see in the new MBP/iMac.
 
it'd be nice if they fixed that sound bug that instead of an alert noise in os x, u just get a loud, distorted noise. happens randomly.. doesnt really bother me, but my vista comp doesn't do that :p jk, i swear to never positivly compare vista to anything other than a pile of dog ***** ever again.

You might be right about the release date. However, 'to get it right once and for all' certainly won't be what will be happening. They will just wait as long as possible to roll as many as possible minor bug fixes into it, in order to give users who do not upgrade to Leopard the best possible product.

Apple is probably finding and fixing bugs every day. If the changes to fix these bugs are minor, they will be rolled into a 10.x.x update. If they require major changes they will have to wait to for a 10.x update. That means that some bugs found in Leopard builds will also exist in Tiger, so they might be fixed in both. Except naturally after the last update of Tiger has come out.
 
Except there is NOW. That's what the seed is. I swear it!

Actually the only thing needing a fix is Safari with its memory leaks and constant beachballs; the rest of Tiger is almost flawless.

Ah yeah, another thing...if only Mr. Parnell could FIX that damn LAG that freezes every other activity on my Mac (especially Safari's) when checking Hotmail's mail via the httpmail plugin...:rolleyes:

Since the debate of 10.4.10 is going to end, perhaps we should start speaking about what will happen next, will be ever arrive to 10.10, will that be called mac os eleven, or after what version will it come? :p

Apple's OS version numbering is certainly a different beast to that in the OS 9 era. Our 10.x releases (Panther, Tiger, Leopard etc) are similar to major version number changes in the pre-X era (System 7, System 8, MacOS 9). 'OS X' doesn't seem to be a version number any more. Rather, it's the name of the platform (c.f. Windows, Linux). So that raises the question of what follows the last revision of OS X v10.9. The fundamentals of OS X are pretty sound and Apple are unlikely to make a revolutionary change to their platform for the next decade or more (remember, we could be only 8 years from 10.9). So there's unlikely to be an entirely new platform (OS XI?). It's remarkable how the platform has establised itself in just 6 or 7 years and I'm sure Apple wish for OS X to have the same legacy of applications that Windows and Linux enjoy.

So, OS X v10.10 or OS X v11.0? Who knows!

(whichever way it turns out, I look forward to this post getting unearthed on MacRumors in 8 years' time!)

I am predicting that they are going to release 10.4.10 at WWDC.


iPhone is about all that I would expect, if it is hardware. Softwarewise just some more features for Mac OS 10.5.

I would expect this to be a conference just for what it is stated for, Mac Developers. The rest of of will have t wait for anything of substance to be announced.

If Apple designated 10.4.A, or 10.4.a when About This Mac displayed its info, and everywhere else the version was to be referenced by, would that be a "cool" "thing" to do?

10.4.A or 10.4.a instead of 10.4.10 is like having less vowels to sound out a nickname with; it's better. Though there is a aesthetic sense of symmetry in 10.4.10, I wonder if there is a practical reason for remaining with numerals instead of employing a letters. Apple is different for a reason ... because they think different.
