If no issues are found with the new seed then it could well get bumped to final status and released. Personally speaking, if I've seeded a release then I'd want to wait at least a week so that reports can get in, just to make sure nothing else has crept in.

If I had to pick a day, I'd go with Monday/Tuesday, but it depends on your support status, if you're 24/7 then you'll have cover at the weekend if you release on a Friday, otherwise, people could install and get no response until Monday if there is a problem, and 48 hours can seem an eternity when you have problems.
I couldn't agree more, this seems more likely than a Friday release. The support issue is dead-on.

OS 3.0 beta 5 on Tuesday in the mix too? Read somewhere that there were 8 betas released between March and July last year.

Approximate days between beta builds for 3.0:
1-2: 13 days
2-3: 9 days
3-4: 20 days
4-5: currently on 14 days, Tuesday 12th would make it 22 days

10.5.7 and DFU mode iPhone

Does this update also resolve the issue with unibody mac's and 10.5.6 not being able to get iPhones into DFU mode without a usb hub inbetween ?

So the general focus areas are exactly the same as the previous seed.
Only 1 given issue - Safari
Only 1 given change - NSURLConnection compatibility fix

An NSURLConnection object provides support to perform the loading of a URL request. The interface for NSURLConnection is sparse, providing only the controls to start and cancel asynchronous loads of a URL request.

What gives? New SL build, 10.5.7 for next Tuesday?

Does this mean Safari 4 won't hang completely for a few second when one of the tabs takes a little longer to load? It feels like the whole thing is one big thread at times. I hate it when I can't even click on another thread while another is still loading. I usually Force Quit Safari after 10-15 seconds of beachballing... I hope this will eventually get fixed for the final version. The Windows version works fine here, except I can't do bookmarks, so I just drag the page icons to the desktop at work. The zoom feature alone is worth it. :)

Interesting detail from 9to5Mac:

New version of Safari 4 seems likely like I said earlier. The 'Safari 4 Beta only installs on Mac OS X 10.5.6' issue would be a solved then. I suppose they're not planning to release iTunes 8.2 already, are they?

It could easily be a simple 8.1.x update for iTunes.

I think Chrome on Mac might be something to watch. All the speed of webkit, multiple threads, none of the clunkiness of Firefox on OSX (love Firefox on Windows).

...If they really are gonna resolve the Safari 4 Beta issue.... I would assume that it takes more than a week to fix that problem.....

I assume Safari 4 beta fails to install by design. Likely it can be "fixed" in about 10 seconds.

They may be doing this to reduce the value of pirated copies of the developer releases of Mac OS X.

Would be nice if this update fixed the screen tearing issues on the unibody macbooks.

I doubt that, the iTunes 8.2 beta has already been seeded.

Firefox is clunky on Mac OS X? After you apply one of the GrApple Yummy themes to it it looks at lot less ugly. That said, I agree with you about Chrome - it could truly be a great Mac browser once the developers get it running smoothly.

In the past Apple has sometimes released a build and just a day or two later that build becomes the official release. So it could happen with this one this week.

It's like they offer you candy and as soon as you get close, bam, they kick you in the face. Apple is becoming such a tease.

Of course if they do release it, we will have half as many articles on MacRumors for a while. They seem to be every other report. ;);)

What issue would that be. I'm curious about this. My brother has a Unibody MacBook and I haven't noticed any screen tearing. (I'm assuming you mean horizontal tearing on the screen from BeamSync not working properly.)

I used to have screen tearing in Safari scrolling until I used Quartz Debug to "Force BeamSync" and it's been fine since. Perhaps you could try that.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. I've read about Quartz Debug causing all sorts of problems.

do people still think any given day of the week has anything to do with an apple release? just because they used to release their hw mostly on tuesdays?

besides, the safari install issue has nothing to do with an os update. they can release a new safari beta with a corrected install anytime.

Actually... Quartz Debug fixes the problem. Here's what you do. Install Developer Tools. Then open Quartz Debug. Then open the BeamSync tools and click on Force BeamSync On. Then FORCE QUIT Quartz Debug (you have to do this because a regular quit puts it back to default). Then restart your computer. That's it! Try it out and get back to me.

I haven't been following the seed releases, but lately the Mobile Me pref pane has been a real PITA. Is this something that has been addressed? I ask because as it stands I can't go in to the pref pane to modify any of my MM settings.

Maybe, but not because of HW Tuesdays. Historically Mondays have seen the most update releases, with the odds of a release basically declining as the week goes on and Friday having the fewest.

Ok. Did all that. I guess I'll have to see if the problem ever comes back. Thanks for the help.

I just want the "Overscan" option back in the display preferences. That's the ONLY way I can get my Mac Mini to fill the screen of my 720p TV.

My Mac Mini is sitting at 10.5.5 until that gets fixed...

Chris - there are several variations on your theme BUT I agree - this is by design for whatever reason.

I agree who cares if Safari 4 BETA cannot install on it, it's a BETA, maybe Safari 4 Final will be bundled with 10.5.7 when it is released?
