5 Gestures?
double tap home button,
scroll to the left,
hit screen lock.
seems ok to me, not that I ever use the rotation lock
You forgot about having to click the home button again after touching the rotate lock icon. So, technically, he's right. It's five painstakingly excruciating actions!
(click + click) + swipe + touch + click
Apple will never be able to position the iPad as a productivity tool again! All of these lost seconds will never fly in the enterprise environment.
P.S. - That was all sarcasm, in case it wasn't obvious.
Yup. Looking forward to 4.2 on the iPad. Folders here we come. As for the screen lock, I'd rather have it be a mute switch. I rarely use screen lock and don't mind getting to it through the MT bar.
My proximity sensor was never fixed on my iPhone 4 on the last update. Anyone else still having issues? Thought was to be fixed <_<
It's five unnecessary actions that can be completed via a switch.
Do you not like choice?
1 Gesture - Switch
Four Gestures - Double Tap, Scroll, Hit Button
Complete waste.
Why is everyone so against having choice? Why not set that to be a toggle for you mute guys who love SJ more than life, or leave it the way it is.
What does 10.1 bring to the table exactly?
2) Have fun being a martyr on 4.1. You'll be missing out on a bunch of great new features. Sooner or later none of your apps will work properly.
Unless they address screwing up the iPad rotation lock-switch, they can choke on the upgrade. I'm not trading one flick of a switch for 5 gestures. That's not an upgrade - that's self-abuse.

4.1 update fixed my iphone 4 prox sensor issue. If you have a problem still, probably need to make appointment with genius bar.
It would be better if you could choose what the switch was used for, but it's hardly a big deal. If Apple had implemented this solution first, no one would care because it works just fine.
Funny, I was thinking that 10.6.5 and iTunes 10.1 would come a few days before ios 4.2
after running the GM of iOS4.2 safari is snappier.
But then I did do a restore. and set up from scratch
I would actually argue that had Apple implemented the switch as a normal mute switch, with IOS 4.0 that would reveal that the switch is now magically a screen rotation lock switch and you goons would eat it up.
You're going to agree with Apple no matter what and that is a huge problem.
No, I'm not trolling. I like Apple alot, but it gets tiring to see user who do not like choice and love to bend over and take it.
