If iTunes doesn't launch today, I don't see Apple deploying iOS 4.2 on Friday. I don't think they will offer both the iTunes update and iOS on the same day.

iTunes indicates that it will recheck for an update on the 18th when just yesterday it indicated the 12

I received a security update for 10.5.8 but no iTunes so far.

Never any plans to sync with iOS and for iPad and iPhone? Did I miss something about airplay? And I think Steve said iOS 4.2 was coming out on all iOS devices in November and that includes Apple TV

No, Airplay support is coming to ATV but Steve never said ATV is going to sync their software with all other iOS devices. In fact, Steve and Apple have never even publicized the fact that ATV runs iOS at all.

Good for you. What you going to do when a rogue app on your android sends your identity to China? You will beg for us to take you back, but we won't.

1.) Who said anything about Android?

2.) I have had an Android phone for over a year and have never had a problem with any of the Apps being "rogue"

3.) Most of what I do is web browsing and Apple's browser is definitely not perfect and has its share of security flaws. If you can jailbreak a device directly from the web browser, I'm sure there are other things you can do as well. I'd be more concerned about a "rogue" website sending my info off...an iPad isn't going to stop that from happening.

What I do know is that I recently tried a Blackberry phone because I have been considering the playbook and one of the things I noticed about the phone is that two of the hardware buttons are customizable and I think that is totally awesome.

The mute switch on the iPhone is for switching from the ringer to vibration mode.

The iPad does not ring, therefore the mute switch is not needed.

How can Apple not see this? Amazing how they can get so many things right and then blow it on something so simple.

You don't get it. The switch works the same (now with 4.2) on the iPhone as it does on the iPad, with the addition of the iPhone changing the volume ringer to vibrate.

Other than that single inclusion of the ringer, the switches work the same on both devices.

And since you are unable to look beyond today, think about Face Time on the iPad in a future release.
