I have a curiousity question, Think Secret points out that Internet Connect is gone, good.

I have a friend who uses Sherlock, one of the final hold outs from OS 9 still on OS X. Lately he's been reporting to me that Sherlocks search results are rather thin. Tell me, whomever can, is Sherlock still there in the newest build of Leopard. Evidence would suggest that they're phasing it out.

It's true that the new Desktop Background doesn't feel very Apple-ish, but I have it installed and I'm using it now!

So far, looks great - can't wait 'till it comes out! No complaints here.
I'm glad they got rid of that clear menu bar, and that awful grass background. The rest of the cosmetics look neat.

Comparison pic of Tiger vs Leopard

Way to go Apple, not only did they have all the high-res artwork to make this bigger, but high-res makes the kid not so creepy anymore. (I mean, don't ya hate the creepy look on the kid's eyes in Tiger?)

I completely took the look of the old stoplights for granted-- the ones in the new build look awful (aside: I vote them for the weirdest feature of the mac OS, I mean really, three colourful bubbles??)

While most thing are looking good to me, the default 'look' of leopard generally looks too washed out with light, and is awkward to look at because some of the most mundane but most used features lack depth and definition (like the window control).

For what it's worth, I happen to be a fan of Window's window control (I guess if they do something right, it's no wonder that it's in the name..windows does windows) and wouldn't mind a feature that would let me tile out all my open windows from a certain app.. or an assign-key-to-window function so I can bring up references then switch back to my document instantly. Spaces is good and all... but I do do a lot at once.

So ya..Apple if you does listen to prayers.. :p

lookin' good

Lookin' good... but here's the big question.... Have they updated Chess ?
this poor forgotten little app feels a bit neglected, all the attention going to things like "Finder", "Time Machine", and all these other fancy-pants things, but what about poor old Chess ?

I love this new GUI.
im not gonna nit pick and say this sad depressed blue should be a happy blue

'nuff said

what about it?

lol I meant what else can they possibly do to improve a chess program? I didn't even know OS X had games until I came across your post. Then I checked my Apps folder and lo and behold! There's a chess program! I think instead, they should add more games. Go anybody?

Whelp, this gallery succeeded in getting me psyched for the new release! I mean I was always looking forward to Time Machine, but nothing else grabbed me. Now I'm looking forward to using it day to day.

Still don't like the menubar, still don't like the monochrome icons, I don't much care about the traffic lights, and I kinda dig the toolbar indication.

Dumb and random question: Anybody know who the woman is in the Photobooth icon?

Wonder what it's like to be an icon...

Mostly I was just joking around, but now you really got me thinking..
Did you ever play "Battle Chess" back in the day (The Harry Potter books called the same concept "Wizards Chess") That would be nice, or just some general spiffing up, more board/piece/style options I guess. Being able to invte (and start) a game of Chess over iChat would be cool.

I know I can do this my own, but it would be nice if the Applications Folder has sub-folders by default. I always break mine up like so:
* Games (For Games!)
* Media (For apps like VLC, Win Media Player, etc.)
* Press ( Office, iWork, Adobe apps, other print/web related apps)
* Utilities

I'm not saying they use my naming convention necessarily, I've just used that since early 90's. but it would be nice to have it broken up by default.

And as you said, a couple other small games would be nice, I almost always load on a couple freebies like tux-racer, a solitaire game, and some bejeweled type game.

These Leopard builds are looking better and better every time. I love those hi-res icons...

It's an elementary OS game (although it uses the Deep Sjeng chess engine). I doubt they did anything for it. If you really like chess, try Sigma Chess.

does anyone know if halo online multiplayer mode still doesnt work? I thin kit was the gamespy engine that wouldn't work.

New icons and some backup software... I hope there's a better reason to upgrade than this!?

Oh c'mon! Clearly if you'd bother doing some research (maybe the Apple website?), you'd know that this isn't the case...

Dock and hi res icons looking good. For all of those that are complaining about the traffic lights.... Get over it

I'd assume you could still change the apearance to graphite...Right ?
I personally like the colors, I identify with colors much faster and at a glance than I do symbols.

The whole will be greater than the some of it's parts.

Some of the new frameworks will see some amazing apps produced.
