Neither of them is even Tiger-compatible, so it's a non-issue, affecting zero users except those who bought software they couldn't install in the first place.

Actually...

Apple iWork '09 Webpage said:
iWork ’09 System Requirements

Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (500MHz or faster) processor
512MB of RAM; 1GB recommended
32MB of video memory
Mac OS X v10.4.11 or Mac OS X v10.5.6 or later
QuickTime 7.5.5 or later
1.2GB of available disk space
DVD drive required for installation

I agree with everything else though. iLife '09 does still require Leopard, so it's unlikely that anyone will be duplicating more than iWork.

hmmm

you know, the more i think about it, i think you guys may be right.

9400M might become the baseline for 10.7, and would still allow it to be 64-bit only, as there hasnt been a Mac with 9400M which wasnt 64-bit.

as someone else pointed out, that means that 10.7 can be built around a baseline including hardware video acceleration, OpenCL support etc.

interesting...

Has anyone who has upgraded to SL found COD4/other games are suddenly very laggy?

COD4 has been rendered almost unplayable. I think it may be a driver issue.

Even under Leopard support for games was shady - your best bet is to install Windows and play games through that, not only will it be more stable, it will also give you dramatically better framerates.

It played beautifully under Leopard. Any idea if the Mac keycode will work for a Windows version?

Watching the WWDC where they showed off Snow Leopard, it looks awesome! So many subtle improvements that will greatly help day to day Mac usage. Can't wait.

Update: We've heard additional confirmation that 10A432 is likely the Golden Master build.

From whom? Kevin Rose?

Just checking...

Is it pretty much common knowledge now that this isn't the Gold Master at all? I just see a lot of little comments around the web pointing out things that aren't quite right, such as the Quicktime prefs missing.

Nobody knows.

I just wonder who the hell should stick with Tiger all the time and now install Snow Leopard 10.6.0? Probably they will rather switch to Leopard in some months time ;)

Well Apple has to release the code to the duplicators to create the discs and then ship them to the "assembly facility" where they put it all together in the box and prepare it for distribution.

I imagine that is not a 24-48 hour process. ;)

So is it possible that this indeed is what will ship on the retail and UpToDate DVDs and Apple will be releasing a set of updates on the release date to fix some or all of these niggling problems? Because the release date for Snow Leopard is closer to the beginning of the month of September as opposed to the end and they've gone as far as they can and still meet this date? (And yes, I understand that Apple is not publicly committed to any date other than the last day of the month.)

Microsoft releases intermittent updates that "improve the performance of Windows and Windows applications" that are not actual "service packs". So this wouldn't be a "10.6.1" update (or even "10.6.0.1"), but more just a collection of "fixes"?

Im beginning to think this is NOT GM. There's way too many bugs that I'm seeing in day to day use, especially with the video card drivers for nVidia GPUs.

In 10.5.0 were many bugs, too. That's pretty normal in x.x.0 Versions.

Been confirmed
GM is 10A432 will be in the box on august 28th, 10A435 is also GM but the update already.
