Mac OS X Tiger Arriving

Several readers are reporting that their copies of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger has shipped from the Apple Store. This first batch of Mac OS X copies are expected to start arriving today. Several users have already received their copies of Mac OS X 10.4 due to some unintentional early shipments.

On April 29th, Apple will be officially hosting the worldwide release with events at Apple Stores and Apple Retailers. There will be drawings for iPods and PowerBook giveaways as well as free door prizes. These are expected to include Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger T-Shirts.

update: install is already finished. everything is exactly as I left it. only difference I see is the spotlight in the upper corner and dashboard in my dock. i might go back and do a clean install to make it more work (and because I want to clean off a lot of old junk).

I should get mine tomorrow. I am going to the Apple store too! I want to win a new Powerbook or a Mac Mini or WHATEVER! I hope they do the grab bag thing too. Wouldn't be awesome to by a grab bag and have a iPod in it?

I'm excited to hear about everyone's experience. I hope that the bug count is minimal and that 10.4.1 arrives soon to squash them anyway. I won't get Tiger until the Final Cut Suite is available so I can do a clean install.

I've never been to an in-store Apple launch like this. Do they have anything on sale, generally?

Mine is shipping as well, but....

....I'll get the German version since I ordered from the Swiss store.

I know it's sad, but after years of having Mac OS X I just don't know whether I can change the language. I mean, not the keyboard layout but the language in which all dialogs, menus etc come in.

While I'm German I'm so used having everything in English. German translations of the menus are usually so ...clumsy. Do I need to return it and wait another eternity for Tiger?
