Mac OS X Tiger Arriving

if they do grab bags, which i dont think they will, how much does it cost for one? I know its a good deal either way i just want to know so I come prepared. If anything I'll be happy winning as little as a tiger T-shirt or as much as a PM G5 Dual 2.7 (In my dreams!) Also, are all apple stores doing this? and is it a raffle for the prizes, for the powerbook etc :confused:

Origionally mine was supposed to ship "on or before 4/28"... i just got an email saying:

" Due to an unexpected delay, we are unable to ship the following
item(s) by the date that you were originally quoted:

M9639Z/A, OS X V10.4 "TIGER" RETAIL-INT
will now ship on or before 05/03/2005"

Booo!
 
Well mine is NOT shipping from Amazon and won't until May 3rd. I expected them to deliver so it would arrive on the release date like they often do with CDs and DVDs. Too bad because they have the best deal and I am really tempted to just get it from an Apple store so i can use it over the weekend when I'll have much more time. Stupid Amazon! :mad:

Mine too! I ordered the first day possible. My friend who lives two blocks away ordered TWO DAYS AGO and got it this morning. I am livid!

I just called Apple and cancelled my order and will now have to face the crowds tomorrow. I know I have said this like a half dozen times... but I just can't understand this!

When did you order you copy? I ordered mine on the 13th and it still says preparing shipment so I am starting to worry.

If you ordered from Apple and it is still preparing shipment... you won't get it till monday at the earliest. I know because I just got off the phone with a manager type person.

... I ended up canceling (even though I was using an EDU discount) and will go to the store tomorrow.
 
I'm definitely going to be at the Apple Store tomorrow to got some free stuff. I hope they release the updated iMacs too at the release party so that I can be one of the first ones to buy the new iMac. :D

BUT I JUST GOT MY COPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Installin now. Just gonna do the upgrade for now, then back up everything this weekend and do a clean install. This a bad idea?

Hey john

Go to www.tnt.com, click on express near the top of the page and enter your 9 digit consignment no. (take 2 digits off the end of the tracking no you got from apple) and press ok. you should get more detail. or you can do this on the uk tnt site but you must say that it an international consignment. but go to tnt.com for more info. mine's at nunetaton at the moment. good luck! p.s it will probably come about lunchtime tomorrow, but I can promise you, you'll have it tomorrow.

I ordered mine on april 12th with the educational discount.
 
So I know you all are excited about Tiger being shipped to your house today (I haven't even ordered it and don't plan on ordering it for a bit...), but is anyone getting really pumped for tomorrow? I'm sitting here (while I'm supposed to be working) thinking about how awesome and cool it will be. I've never been to one of the release parties before, so it's going to be a blast. And if I can win an iPod or a Powerbook, that just sweetens the deal.
 
On FedEx vehicle for delivery. I don't know why i'm so happy if I'm not gonna install it for about a week. I have some school projects which are finishing up, and the last thing i want is a major OS bug. Haven't even gone to 10.3.9 yet on Panther.

I know it's sad, but after years of having Mac OS X I just don't know whether I can change the language. I mean, not the keyboard layout but the language in which all dialogs, menus etc come in.

While I'm German I'm so used having everything in English. German translations of the menus are usually so ...clumsy. Do I need to return it and wait another eternity for Tiger?

You can change it in System Prefs.->International
 
I didn't order it at all... which makes tomorrow a much much less stressful day... :) It should come in my student dev. mailing at some point but I have no idea when that will come so I'm not in full anticipation mode yet... :)
 
Just installed, only one problem.

Just received and installed Tiger on my PB 1.5Ghz with 1.5GB Ram.

Everything seems lovely except that the system is running the processor at around 70% constantly, even when nothing is running (Except activity Monitor) and the Fan is now running permanently. This is not good.

Anyone else seeing this?

If Apple didn't push the 4-29 date so much, I wouldn't be so angry. But they plastered Friday everywhere, continuing to claim that it will arrive on time. I just don't get it, this isn't very hard: I've had Tiger on order for two weeks now (ordered on the 12th), and Apple has known that it was due on 4-29...I just don't see the room for error here.

Still preparing shipment...no email yet...grrrr
