Mojave runs perfectly with a correctly upgraded Mac Pro. If it's not even installing, something is definitely wrong with the hardware.

I would not rule out any hardware even if it was working previously. I had something similar to this happen to my MacPro and was not getting a chime at start. I started swapping everything I thought might be responsible to no effect. In the end I yanked out a hard disk drive in the system then everything settled down and is working as expected.

I would consider changing the logic board to be a non-trivial task. Double checking all jumpers and making sure everything is seated correctly would be a good practice.

I did manage to install Mojave using a patch, however, as stated when I later installed the Apple update it crashed, and I have not been able to reinstall Mojave since.

To compound the issue, I now cannot even start my machine and re install the High Sierra w hitch is backed up with Time Machine as my machine will not recognise my Bluetooth Keyboard or my usb Mac keyboard or my usb mouse which until an hour ago were ALL working fine.

So I apologise to all who have tried with all your expertise to help.
I now have a machine that’s bullet proof…ie can’t get in …am very sad

Maybe the rom is damaged, or maybe its something simple. Take it to someone who can troubleshoot it systematically, its very difficult to peel through the layers in these posts ... (not your fault) 🙂

Here is as requested the install log (see attached) from the failed Mojave install Dec 30th 2022
I now understand how to save a log on an install, so thank you.

Hey have written ur commands below and will get on to it asap.

1. Start the Mojave install:
2. Accept the agreement:
3. After the install starts, you can show the macOS installer log pressing CMD-L:
4. Now press CMD-3 to show all messages/errors/logs:
5. After that, wait for the failure and take a picture of the log and any error messages that can be displayed.

Here is the log you requested from the last failed Mojave install (see attachment)
Apologies for the 2 day delay as I had keyboard and mouse problems.
1st screen shot beginning Mojave install.
2nd screen shot progress failure, which I didn't touch the for 45 minutes.
I then rebooted back to High Sierra from my back up.

The log is failing right at the APFS conversion phase, several wrongs things could cause this failure, like wrong firmware features (could be a botched/incomplete BootROM upgrade) or even disk problems.

My suggestion for further diagnose is to add another known working, or a brand new disk, to your Mac Pro. Format it as JHFS+ and then select it right at the beginning of the Mojave install, instead of your "Sierra" disk.
After that, see if the install completes/where it fails.

Remove your TimeMachine disk from your Mac Pro, make your hardware config as simple as possible, so you avoid any red herrings.

Also, try to run AHT and be sure that the extend test completes with your Mac Pro. You can learn how to create an AHT memory key with this GitHub article linked below:

I would just like to tell you, I managed to install Mojave on my 5,1 using Open Core. I could not install Natively or with Dosdude. However, it's done now so thanks for all ya help.

Yes, thank you. I finally was able to install Mojave on my 2010 5,1 with Open core. However, it would not install natively.

Funny, but I bought a 2009 4,1 for $430.00 AUD as a backup studio rig and upgraded the firmware to 140.0.0.0 and it installed Mojave over High Sierra natively, strange but true.

Unfortunately, during the whole 2 months of mac pro pain, I lost 3 years of vital work. However, I have learnt valuable lessons on this journey, so thank you for your support.
