Agree with everyone else here about the prices. I wish I could replace my 2008 MP for one of those machines, especially the 8 core.

Got the Dualie 2.26Ghz and it was a nice surprise to say that I hit the jackpot.
First, I got it for $1100 and now for the surprises:
1) The guy from whom I purchased it is a local TV producer and I recognized him right away...seen him on TV :)...he was clearing his studio of equipment.
2) The Mac Pro is a BUILT TO ORDER and none of the specs written above in the description, his own description, were right....beside the processors :)
3) It comes with 2 x 640GB drives, 12GB of RAM, ATI Radeon 4870, Bluetooth, Superdrive and surprise BluRay Drive:D
4) To top it off...it is still under Apple Care Warranty until next year;)

What else can I say.....I'm a happy camper.

You should enjoy that machine. I upgraded the CPUs in my 2009 2.26 to dual hex. It was really simple. Have a look... http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,852.0.html

I'm actually jealous. That sounds like an amazing machine.

Still waiting for something similar to pop up near me :(

so 1400 if you are usa based you may be able to buy a square trade warranty for it.

you can add a gpu to it for 250 a 5770 type

http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC742ZM/A

you can get a better cpu for under 600

http://www.provantage.com/intel-bx80613w3680~7ITEP374.htm

I have a thread on how to put the cpu in. you also need to flash the efi on the 2009 model there is a thread for that.

so if you add the graphics and the cpu you are at 2250 for the 2010 hex model.

Or do no upgrades and have a good machine for 1400. I would be interested in doing it.

if a new mac pro comes out it will around 2500.

I've got a mac 5770 so that part would be sorted. I'm based in south east asia at the moment and mac pro deals are pretty hard to come by so really considering this. I could sell off the 2 monitors to recoup a bit more cash but it's a bit of a hassle ;) Seller won't sell separately, the cheeky bugger.

I have a first gen macpro (which runs fantastic) but i'm thinking this upgrade could be of some worth in the long run.

OH in your location just buy it!
