Hi there
my Mac Pro 5,1 12core 3,6 ram 64Gb pixla moded. My vega 56 just broken. I has 5770 for spare and Im looking for the new GPU, I knew that rx6800-6900 wont work on 5,1. But for rx6700xt, I cant find any info. It‘s possible to set up like…
-5770 with OS high sierra +Windows 7 (this set up was officially support by apple) and put rx6700xt to use just for the windows side, anyone has done this kind of config before? Thank you

Are you on High Sierra?

The 6700xt is not compatible with MacOS (post #677 below)

Thks for reply. I got 3 SSD for different OS(mojave, catalina, big sur) just for testing around. This reason I plan to stick on High sierra because it limit by my spare GPU(redeon5770) and also with windows 7 because the officially bootcamp on HS required window7. I understood that rx6700 wont work on MAC OS. But is there anyway to bypass pci-e check on start up. For example, start mac which monitor connect to redeon5770 then hold the option key to start in windows with specific GPU(like rx6700xt in this case)

Mojave and above needs a metal gpu, so 5770 will not work.
The vega 56 would have worked with all MacOS versions you have.

So you would need a metal gpu for any versions of MacOS to start with.

I’m pretty sure a Mac Pro 5,1 won’t even boot with a 6700 XT in it to Windows or macOS. Somebody tried a while back & posted about it. Works fine on 7,1 though.

I will looking for rx5x00 instead. ;)
The RX 5000 series requires Catalina and up.
Here's a thread about OS compatibility of AMD GPUs from the last few years:

Note that for Mojave and up a multi GPU setup is only possible with exactly identical GPUs.
Another thing is AFAIK installing a GPU that is "ignored" by Mac OS to use only for Windows is not possible/ very complicated..

IMO you could also consider to skip High Sierra +W7 and install OpenCore with Catalina and Windows 10 and a RX 5700...
