Mac Pro 8800gt Aren't Shipping For Me! (Jan orders)

Well, you know the second I do that, all the January orders will ship...;)

I ordered on the Day of Release (2.8 octo, 2 gigs of RAM, 500 gig HD, and two super drives). Still hasn't shipped...
 
You have to wonder did apple send all the early BTO orders to china and it's because of the weather there these are delayed ?

New orders get built BTO in the US as fast as they can with the supplies here...

I just talked to Apple again.

The woman on the phone told me it's definitely not being done on first come first serve basis.

She said all the Mac Pros ship from different places depending on where you are ordering them to, and they are just going out as the supplies become available at whatever warehouse is shipping yours.

She also said I could try canceling my order with her and re-ordering, but I told her fat chance.

So I don't know how much truth there is to that... but it could mean we may have longer to wait based on location.

Hmm, I'd be very surprised if my order was shipping from anywhere else besides LA, and they've been shipping from there since they started.

Who knows.

I can never tell if the people I talk to over there know what they're talking about or not.

All I know is that this is the most ridiculous situation as far as buying something that I have ever experienced.

I used the student developer discount and no charge has appeared on my amex yet. I live in Chicago. I tried calling to see if I could get some shipping upgrade but they told me they are going in bunches and mine will ship by the date they posted... cant argue with that I knew what to expect when I selected the 8800 gt!

I assume only MP's built in the US are shipping. Is this true? Are Ireland and China online yet for producing MP's? My order says CTO. What does CTO stand for?

I called apple three times, all the answer were the same....there is nothing they could do, and they seemed to deny the fact that people who are getting theirs even they ordered after me!......sigh..sigh...no offer on free shipping (2days..or $150....)

Just got off the phone with Apple. They said my January 19th order (single 2.8 w/8800) would ship as scheduled on Feb 20th. Not only that, but they understand my frustrations and are really backed up so I should feel lucky because some people wouldn't get theirs until mid march.

...wish I was making this up.

Hmmm....I just remembered: the Chinese (Lunar) New Year was yesterday.
Better open your machine up and double check to see if any screws aren't missing....

or worse yet, missing a Quad-Core CPU :D
