How is it running? Are you still getting problems?

I am still getting the odd trouble of no video, usually solved by shutting down and unplugging at the mains.

How did you solved your problem Captain Iglo?

What was the end result? I'm in the same boat mac pro early 2008 with dead 2600 XT card = no video. Options are:

a) buy an apple approved card for an arm and a leg

b) buy a used 2600 XT($90) and 4870($100) card to flash

c) pay over $250 for a used 512MB or over $350 for 1GB flashed 4870 card on ebay

GT 120 isn't that expensive...

I mean, it has an Apple tax, but it's faster than the 2600 XT and cheap.

The 2600XT had issues... I would only buy it to use in the flashing process. I was looking into flashing a 4870 because it's cheaper than the 5870 but I need a good video card for 3D work.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
