Can't explain the score difference between Yosemite & Windows 8.. Not bad for a 3.1 Mac Pro

Apple OSX uses less system resources to run the OS compared to windows. Or geek bench and its sub components are coded better in OS X.

You can get two Macs with the same specs and same software and get different results in Geekbench. Just look at the Geekbench results page for examples. Benchmarks don't always run precisely the same and your computer's performance is always influenced by factors that you will barely notice such as apps running in the background, drivers, CPU temperature, room temperature, fan speed, disk movement, etc

When you benchmark to test your computer's health you should look for a median score gathered from a variety of conditions or even just a ballpark figure gathered from a number of users.

I will be receiving my 64GB of RAM tomorrow so I wanted to run a benchmark with 16GB RAM on my 6-core Mac Pro Late 2013.

OK I GET IT! :)

That's it, New Years resolution; My GB 9500 2012 MP gets a used W3690 and an Apricorn Vel-Duo. I'll get back to this thread next week with details about my new happiness.

Lol oops. Should've been more specific. Was referring to the the processor.

No, the W3690 has only 1 QPI Link so only for single processor application. The X5690 has 2 QPI Links, so for a single or dual processor Mac Pro. scottsjack appears to have a single CPU Machine.

Mine the same 25,500 64 bit on Yosemite.

All the Mac Pros from a like generation are going to score close the same with the sam processors not much you can do. The whole thing was that for a cross platform benchmark it does't do as well in Windows/Linux as it does in OS X. My computer didn't magically get faster after I installed OS X.
