I bought this computer crate which is like a dolly for my old PowerMac G5 from Crate & Barrel. It comes with wheels, and lifts it off the ground. I think C&B discontinued it already- maybe CB2 may carry something similar.

I think I would rather loom over it rather than it loom over me. Actually the main reason I'm keeping it on the floor is because the cat likes to sit on it. Not only that but I'm also keeping it out of view so as not to tempt a break-in at home.

OH NOEZ, DOAN LET TEH KAT SIT ON IT!

My setup is: Early 08 Mac Pro with 2x23" ACDs, on an ATI card (for the time being)

I've got the tower on the floor, on carpet. Is this really bad news? The HDs etc look to be sealed, so what's the problem with doing this?

I'm not sure if I understand the question, nor what it has to do with hard drives, but if it's about having your computer on the floor; the air/temp is generally cooler on the floor, which bodes well for any computer. On the other hand, if you have any dogs/cats, you definitely want the MP on your desk.
