Don't think so

My Mac Pro was doing the reboot on wake long before I installed either Parallels or VM Ware
that's a strange one - I have a MX Revo and I haven't yet experienced that problem.
Ok I found someone's post on a random forum and he said that 100% that the cause of reboot on wake comes from running parallels before you put the mac pro to sleep. So I tested it I put the mac pro to sleep and woke it about 4-5 times and wakes up fine, then I run parallels and then quit parallels and put the mac pro to sleep and woke it up and voila~! it rebooted right after wake.
So its just a parallels bug thats inflicted with the mac pro!! Relief!!!![]()
On the downside, I think I just killed a HD I installed today. I probably shouldn't have done the aforementioned test so rapidly and let the HDs spin down first.![]()
IF YOUr MACHINE IS DOING THIS, TAKE IT BACK!!!!
As suspected. I found this http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/message?board.id=macmice&thread.id=1101
and my problems were solved. Been running fine for 5 days.![]()
What's the procedure if you buy it online custom configured? can you still bring it to an apple store or do you have to ship it back? and who pays for the shipping?
Is resetting the PRAM as easy as cmd+opt+p+r during boot on the MP or is there a reset button on the board?
My problems with reboot on wake didn't happen until the 2600 firmware update.
Bootcamp with XP pro on second partition.
If by "misleading" you mean "entirely false," then you're right.

Hi Guys, been following the forum for quite a while... (yet still a newbie... I know...)
I have the same sleep problem with my MacPro, and following advise on the forum tried to reset my PRAM - but I couldn't. I simply didn't get the second chime, and the computer booted normally.
To make a long story short, I did an Erase/Install for the whole system. Following that the problem remained, BUT - I was able to reset the PRAM. Once I did this the problem disappeared and it worked beautifully for a few weeks, UNTIL - yesterday I installed the updates from Apple and the problem has now reappeared, and as before I cannot reset my PRAM.
Note: before I installed the updates i did a 'repair permissions' through the mac os x install disk.
Other than this I made no other changes so I am certain that this is what caused the problem to reappear.
I hope this is on any help...
OK, i'm going to put this all in capitals for emphasis...
IF YOUr MACHINE IS DOING THIS, TAKE IT BACK!!!!
THEY HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO EXCHANGE IT!!!
THE ONLY WAY WE'RE GOING TO GET APPLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IS IF IT'S COSTING THEM MONEY!!!!
DON'T LIVE WITH IT, GO IN FOR AN EXCHANGE!!!!
i'm on my second machine, been having RAW, did the token walk through with applecare today, taking it into the store tomorrow. am fully expecting to walk out of there with a new machine....
Thanks for the great tip. Unfortunately some of us need to use our macs not play at the genius bar over a potential software issue. Maybe you have that time but don't yell at us. If you think that's going to expediate a fix .......
Will you be heading back when the new one does the same?
I had a ton of reboots the first few weeks I owned my Mac Pro. I'm not sure what did it—I tried a bunch of things—but I haven't had a reboot in more than a week. I now have my Mac Pro set to sleep after 5 minutes and have not had a problem. I have even slept it over night with no problems.
One strange thing though is that my resolution changes to 800x600 after an extended sleep or shutdown. Every morning and several times during the day I have to open the system preferences and hit the "detect monitors" button. I have an old Sony Trinitron monitor that is probably just not compatible with the new system.
And while I was having reboot problems I tried to get my computer replaced, but it is not as easy as the above poster applies. I was told that since I was not within the 14 day window that I would have to take it to an Apple shop for repairs. I took it into a local shop and they could not repeat the reboot problem so they just gave it back to me and charged me $45 for not having anything wrong. Even my resolution problem could not be duplicated in the shop. How do I know how much they tested it? They may have just turned it on a few times and not given it enough time in sleep mode to have problems. The guy at the store had no idea new Mac Pro's were having any problems until I showed him the thread on the Apple Support site with almost 19,000 views.
