Man fedex website either sucks, or they've screwed up. My Mac Pro was picked up on 9/7, and has been sitting in Anaheim ever since.
Did you go for the free shipping? They ship those by train if it has to go transcontinental, so you should get some updated tracking later today/tonight.

yeah unfortunately, forgot to change it and when I didn't on my iMac they air freighted it from China. Didn't know these shipped from California.

Says 9/13 before it will get here. oh well. What annoys me is my monitor was overnight.

Ah okay, no to worry. Might still say it's in Anaheim, but it should be on a train now or will be soon if it's supposed to be delivered on the 13th.

My MP3GHz/2GB/250HD/X1900XT/BT&AP+CD23"HD have been shipped (Italy) yesterday! OMG can't wait to put my hands on it! (order placed on september 5th! WTF that it really fast!)

i'm really torn between one of these or a 24" iMac. I have a macbook and the iMac is pretty much the same as that, but what you get for the price is so tempting. I already have a monitor and the expandability is attractive on the mac pro... so i don't know, depends on how much i get for my g5 really.

First, I've read that you need XP Pro to recognize all 4 cores on the MP - is that in fact true, i.e., XP Home doesn't cut it and don't bother!

XP Home supports one processor (with any number of cores).
XP Pro supports two processors (with any number of cores).

If you want to take advantage of both the CPUs in a Mac Pro, you need XP Pro. XP Home would suffice for any other, non-Woodcrest Mac (i.e. anything but the XServe).

I am really loving this machine so far! I've been officially converted to Apple and OSX. I feel like I've been missing out for years and years.

I thought the system would be quiester overall though. I think the cooler/fan on the x1900 is the loudest component when idle. The superdrive on the other hand...

...everytime it spins up to max I get the urge to grab onto my Mac Pro before a hidden sublight thruster emerges from somewhere and blasts it off into space. That thing (pioneer DVD-RW DVR-111D) is LOUD!

*ROFL* - I have had the same experience with a few DVD drives on my PC. There are just a few ones that are really really quiet.

You should stay away from the slot opening, if it crash the disc will come out in a speed that.. not even a UFO will match ;)

No offense but that's sort of good to hear. LOL I ordred August 19th and mine hasn't shipped yet, best estimate according to Apple is the 13th which I hope is true. I've seen people who ordered the same day as me as well as after get theirs shipped.
Oh, no. I totally agree that those who ordered before me should have it shipped first. The only thing is I have seen at least three persons who ordered after me, September 4, 5 and 6 and had it shipped thursday or friday and that annoys me. The specs were nearly the same too.
Fred.

Yeah no kidding. The post earlier by Renovatio is the one response that makes any sense to all the confusion with these order dates.

I've ordered the memory (4GB) for my to-be-ordered Mac Pro. I've also ordered a custom cooler/fan mount (Artic Cooler) for the X1900 to supposedly lower the noise output of the video card. I'll fool around with some before-and-after impressions when I do order the machine.

I'll be ordering the machine on Tuesday just to avoid any Apple Event surprises. Will be interesting to see if I can work one of the new iPods on the Back to School promo as there will be two days of overlap...

Yes, it's been killing me to wait five days to place the order but hopefully Tuesday will make it worthwhile. ;)

I don't think you'll be able to get the new iPod with the promotion even if it's released then. Last year, the nano came out before the end of the promotion and it wasn't eligible and this year, the new iMac C2D came out and it is not eligible like the Core Duo version.

No change since I placed my order.  I shouldn't have to complain to get it to ship before the people who ordered WEEKS after me. Oh well, it's not like Apple lied about it, as long as it ships on or before the est. date.

Check Your Shipping!

Just got off the phone with Apple. The free FedEx overnight shipping they upgraded me to last Wednesday due to the long delay mysteriously disappeared -- the order said standard shipping. They told me it was fixed now and to expect the MacPro to ship Monday or Tuesday. Anyone else who's waiting like I am, and who was told they had upgraded shipping, may want to call and confirm your shipping status. Hopefully it will not be too much longer!

3.00 GHz Quad Xeon
1GB 667 DDR2 FB DIMM ECC-2x512
ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB
250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s drive
16x SuperDrive DL
Apple Keyboard & Mighty Mse
iWorks '06
Mac OS X
Country Kit

Augh! My Mac Pro is sitting about 20 minutes away from me right now, and has been for most of the day. It's not being delivered until Tuesday, according to FedEx. Why? Because they put my estimated delivery time as Tuesday, and now they've got no reason to hurry up and pass it through customs until then.

Blah!

To our Canadian friends, I'm sorry to hear that your systems haven't shipped yet :(

On another note, My Dell FPW2005 20" widescreen came with a single link dvi cable. Will this cable work with my x1900 or will I need to get a dual link cable. Can the FPW2005 even take advantage of a dual link cable?

My Mac Pro with ATI X1900XT shipped on friday sept 8th. Destined for Calgary, Canada! Should have it by the end of the week. :)

Bob, you're starting to scare me (and I hope Apple too).... :D

Actaully the whole sacrifice thing was my dogs idea. I really need to learn not to listen to everything she says.

Got alittle impatient today and bumped my shipping up to overnight from standard. Couldn't get it for free so I ponied up. Now if my Mac Pro doesn't ship until the estimated ship date, Sept 29, I'm kind of screwed as thats a friday. Still hoping it will ship well before then.

Congrats to all those reading this forum whose MPs have shipped. For those who are still waiting, don't believe the Apple order status page - they are catching up now and what's listed is the worst case scenario.

So now that my MP with x1900xt is on the way, I have BC/Parallels questions.

First, I've read that you need XP Pro to recognize all 4 cores on the MP - is that in fact true, i.e., XP Home doesn't cut it and don't bother!

Next, if you want to do BC with XP and also Parallels, do you have to have two licenses or, if you only have one license, do you have to choose one or the other implementation, because you can't do both.

Thirdly, if you have to choose between BC and Parallels, which do you guys with a delivered MP recommend - BC to get all the performance or Parallels to get all the convenience. Sucks if you have to choose!

Interested in your thoughts. Thanks. A proud Switcher!!!

You NEED XP Professional to see all 4 cores. XP Home will only work with ONE processor, so if you use Home you will only see two cores.

I've also ordered a custom cooler/fan mount (Artic Cooler) for the X1900 to supposedly lower the noise output of the video card.

The Accelero X2?

I'm wondering if there's anything that attaches to the PCI-E slot above (or below, whichever way they mount) the graphics slot and pulls hot air out the back.

Finally got my shipping notice. Ordered on the 21st with an estimate of Sept. 19th (2GB RAM, X1900, 500GB). It'll be here on Monday (Northern California).
